For a JBL speaker that can handle a tailgate or a home game-day party, compare the PartyBox 110, 310, and 520 by how you’ll transport it, how long you need it to play, and whether you’ll connect a microphone or other speakers. JBL lists maximum playtimes from 12 to 18 hours across these models, but those are manufacturer claims, not guarantees for every volume or lighting setting. Its product pages also don’t establish that any model has “top-tier” sound compared with competitors.
Which JBL PartyBox suits your game-day setup?
The carrying job is a useful first filter. JBL describes the PartyBox 110 as rechargeable and portable, while the 310 and 520 have wheels and a telescopic handle. The larger wheeled models may be easier to roll from a vehicle to a party space, but check their dimensions and weight on the current product listing before deciding how they fit your vehicle or storage.
| Model | JBL-stated maximum playtime | Transport and splash protection | Connections and event features |
|---|---|---|---|
| PartyBox 110 | Up to 12 hours; JBL manufacturer claim, not an independent runtime test. JBL PartyBox 110 | Rechargeable, portable, and IPX4 splashproof, according to JBL. JBL PartyBox 110 | Bluetooth, USB, AUX, microphone and guitar inputs; cable or TWS pairing. JBL PartyBox 110 |
| PartyBox 310 | Up to 18 hours; JBL manufacturer claim, not an independent runtime test. JBL PartyBox 310 | Wheels and telescopic handle; IPX4 splashproof, according to JBL. JBL PartyBox 310 | TWS pairing for up to two compatible PartyBox speakers or a wired connection. JBL PartyBox 310 |
| PartyBox 520 | Up to 15 hours; JBL manufacturer claim, not an independent runtime test. JBL PartyBox 520 | Wheels and telescopic handle; IPX4 splashproof, according to JBL. JBL PartyBox 520 | Auracast multi-speaker connection and two XLR inputs. JBL PartyBox 520 |
For a more portable setup: PartyBox 110
The 110 is the straightforward option in this comparison if you want a rechargeable speaker and expect to carry it rather than roll it. JBL lists microphone and guitar inputs, which could help with announcements or live playing, as well as Bluetooth, USB, and AUX for playback. JBL lists 160 W output and a weight of 23 lb; those specifications do not establish how well it will cover a particular crowd or sound better than another speaker.
For longer claimed runtime: PartyBox 310
JBL gives the 310 the longest maximum playtime in this three-model comparison: up to 18 hours. It also has wheels and a telescopic handle. That combination may suit a host who expects a long event and needs to move the speaker across a parking area or between rooms. The claimed maximum is not a promise of 18 hours at every volume or with every feature enabled.

For XLR inputs and Auracast: PartyBox 520
The 520’s listed features include two XLR inputs and Auracast multi-speaker connection. These are relevant if your plans call for compatible audio equipment or linking speakers; they may be unnecessary for a playlist played from a phone. JBL lists up to 15 hours of playtime, less than the 310’s stated maximum, so weigh the features and transport needs rather than assuming the newest or largest model must be the best match.
What to know about battery life and weather
JBL’s “up to” runtime figures are maximums, not independently measured results. Actual playtime can vary with listening volume, lighting, and playback conditions, so plan a way to recharge or shorten playback if the speaker must last through a long event.

- Powerful JBL Pro Sound: Two 6.5" woofers that deliver clean, precise, deep bass even at top volume and a pair of 25mm dome tweeters that produce crystal clear highs. Loud enough to fill a space the size of a tennis court with music.
- Futuristic lightshow: Take all that sound and add a thrilling lightshow featuring starry lights, cool light trails, and strobe light effects—all synced to your beat.
- Up to 18 hours of play time: Party from dusk till dawn with up to 18 hours on a single charge. Not enough? Swap out the replaceable battery and keep on dancing. 10 min fast charge gets you an extra 2 hours of playtime.Replaceable battery sold separately
- Telescopic handle and wide, sturdy wheels: Roll up to the party with wide, sturdy wheels and an easy-to-grip handle that telescopes up when you need it and down when you don't.
- Splash proof: Whether you're partying with friends in the park or by the seaside, the JBL PartyBox Stage 320 is IPX4 splashproof, means a little rain won't stop the fun.
JBL describes the compared models as IPX4 splashproof. Treat that as splash protection, not waterproofing: it does not mean the speaker can be submerged or left exposed to heavy rain. Keep it sheltered from sustained weather and follow the care instructions for the exact model.

How to choose based on connections and crowd size
Linking speakers
The connection method is not identical across the range. JBL specifies cable or TWS pairing for the 110; TWS pairing between up to two compatible PartyBox speakers or a wired connection for the 310; and Auracast for the 520. Before buying a second unit, verify that its model supports the same linking method. Do not assume that all PartyBox speakers can pair with one another.

- 240 watts of powerful JBL pro sound
- Mesmerize your crowd with a dazzling, dynamic light show that dances to the beat with subtle pulsing and powerful strobing effects
- Long lasting sound with 18 hours of music-blasting battery life
- Crafted with ipx4 splashproof protection, the JBL partybox 310 keeps the music going — rain or shine
- Switch tracks, change up the light show, control karaoke features and more all from your phone with the partybox app.
Microphones and instruments
If the plan is a game-day playlist, microphone and instrument inputs may not affect your choice. They matter more for karaoke, announcements, or live music: JBL lists mic and guitar inputs on the 110 and two XLR inputs on the 520. Confirm the input type you need and any equipment compatibility on the current model listing.
Coverage and sound expectations
A parking-lot tailgate, a living room, and a crowded party create different listening conditions. Venue size, speaker placement, and audience noise all affect how well music reaches people. JBL’s product specifications do not provide independent coverage measurements or a comparative listening test for those settings. The 110 and 310 pages list 160 W and 240 W output respectively, but wattage alone is not a sound-quality ranking.
Rank #4
- Superior JBL Pro Sound: We’re cranking out 800 watts of JBL Pro Sound—loud, clean, and full of deep bass from those two massive 9” woofers. The tweeters keep the highs crisp and clear, so every track hits just right and the dance floor stays packed.
- Futuristic lightshow: Mix all that epic sound with a lightshow to match—vibrant stars, flowing trails, and strobes that move with the beat. It’s a full-on vibe.
- Up to 15 hours playtime: Keep the music going for up to 15 hours on a single charge. Need more juice? Swap in the backup batteries (sold separately) and keep it moving. Just need a quick boost? A 10-minute fast charge gets you up to 2 extra hours of playtime.
- Ergonomic integrated handle and wider sturdy wheels: Taking the party outside just got easier—wider wheels roll smooth on rough ground, and the built-in handle makes it easy to grab and go.
- IPX4 Splash proof: Whether we’re hanging in the park or chilling by the pool, the PartyBox 720 is IPX4 splash proof—so a little water is no big deal.
What the product specifications can—and cannot—tell you
The listed features can help narrow down a practical choice: transport style, manufacturer-stated battery maximum, splash-protection rating, connection options, and event inputs. They do not demonstrate that JBL speakers deliver “top-tier” sound against other brands, or predict real-world battery life and coverage at your party. Check the exact current product listing for availability, specifications, and compatibility before purchasing.
