Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed will undergo season-ending surgery for a neck injury, the team announced October 2, 2026. The Packers also said Reed had full range of motion and mobility; the announcement does not say his injury is career-ending. A same-day odds comparison listed Green Bay between +5000 and +6600 to win the Super Bowl, but it does not establish that Reed’s injury moved the price.
What happened to Jayden Reed?
Reed was injured in Week 2 against the New York Jets. Green Bay’s Week 3 injury report listed the wide receiver as OUT with a neck injury. On October 2, the team announced that the injury requires season-ending surgery. The Packers did not identify a specific diagnosis or procedure, or give a recovery timetable. The team’s October 2 report said Reed had full range of motion and mobility; that update should not be read as a prognosis.
Head coach Matt LaFleur described the news as shocking. “He’s a guy that wants to be out there and compete,” he said, adding, “He will certainly be missed.” The Week 3 official injury report separately documented Reed’s neck injury and OUT status.
How does Reed’s absence affect Green Bay’s receiving group?
The Packers’ planned group included Reed, Christian Watson, Matthew Golden and Tucker Kraft. Without Reed, Green Bay will have to adjust its receiving options and roles. The team report does not quantify what that means for the offense’s scoring or the Packers’ win total, so a precise performance impact cannot be established from the announcement.

What are the Packers’ updated Super Bowl odds?
Odds are a dated market snapshot, not a forecast of what will happen. VegasInsider’s cross-book comparison dated October 2, 2026 showed Green Bay at prices ranging from +5000 to +6600 to win the Super Bowl. BetMGM displayed +6600 on its Packers odds page when accessed October 3, 2026. These are Super Bowl winner futures, not game, division or conference odds. The figures do not show a verified before-and-after move tied to Reed’s injury.
