The itel P55 4G is a basic-use budget phone with a smooth 90Hz display, satisfactory everyday performance and strong battery endurance in 91mobiles’ testing. Its main drawbacks are a screen that is difficult to read in direct sunlight, weak low-light photos and slow charging. This review covers the 4G model only—not the itel P55 5G or P55+.
What the itel P55 4G offers
itel’s product page lists a 6.6-inch punch-hole display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a Unisoc T606 processor, Android 13, a 50MP rear camera, a 5000mAh battery, USB Type-C and an 18W charger. The India launch report also identifies an 8MP front camera and HD+ resolution. It describes the screen as 720 × 1,640 pixels, while 91mobiles’ hands-on review gives 720 × 1,612 pixels; the official product material cited here does not resolve that difference. itel’s P55 specifications; Gadgets 360’s India launch report; 91mobiles’ review.
Memory configurations depend on the market. In itel’s advertised 256GB + 24GB configuration, the 24GB figure combines 8GB of physical RAM and 16GB of memory expansion; it is not 24GB of physical RAM. The reviewer describes the India review unit as having up to 8GB physical RAM and 128GB storage, with virtual memory included in larger total-memory claims. Check the local SKU rather than assuming every P55 has the same configuration.

How the screen and design hold up
Dhruv Joshi’s 91mobiles review, published 25 March 2024, describes a plastic-backed phone with a shimmering gradient, flat edges, thin bezels and a wider chin. It weighs 190g and is 8mm thick, according to that review. The punch-hole camera keeps the front looking contemporary for a low-cost handset.

The 90Hz LCD’s main benefit is smoother scrolling than a standard 60Hz screen. The reviewer liked its viewing angles and smoothness, and reported that YouTube playback was available at up to 1080p. But the HD+ panel is not especially sharp, and the reviewer found it hard to read in direct sunlight. That outdoor limitation matters if you often use your phone in bright conditions.
Everyday performance and software
In the 91mobiles review, browsing and routine tasks worked satisfactorily, and the P55 was considered capable of casual gaming. Joshi played BGMI at HD resolution with high frame-rate settings, but found that gameplay improved at a lower resolution. That makes the phone a better fit for occasional gaming than for buyers seeking consistently demanding game performance.

The reviewer also found that dynamic or virtual RAM made little difference in general use, with some benefit for resource-heavy tasks such as gaming. Treat expanded-memory totals as a software feature, not as a substitute for the responsiveness gains of additional physical RAM.

The review notes preinstalled apps, most of which were removable, plus a dynamic-island-style bar for selected notifications and status events, game mode, Game Space, dual-app functionality, video assistant and auto call recording. The cited material does not establish how long the phone receives Android or security updates, so buyers who prioritize a defined update policy should verify it with itel before purchasing.

Camera quality: better in daylight than at night
The 50MP label does not guarantee strong photos in every setting. In Joshi’s review, daylight rear-camera shots generally had pleasing, vibrant color and sufficient detail. Edges could look soft, however, and detail fell away when zooming. Daylight selfies were judged good overall, although skin tones sometimes appeared washed out.
Low-light photography was the more obvious weakness: the reviewer reported blurry, grainy results even with Super Night mode, sometimes requiring several attempts. If night shots or indoor images in dim light are a priority, the P55 is a risky choice; its camera is more convincing in daylight.

Battery life and charging
The phone has a 5000mAh battery and an 18W charger, according to itel. In a mixed-use day involving YouTube, games, browsing and long calls, the 91mobiles reviewer ended with about 19 percent charge remaining. In the reviewer’s PCMark battery test in 2024, it lasted 19 hours and 55 minutes. These are review results, not a guarantee of the time any individual user will get.

Charging is less impressive. The same review reports around 2.5 hours to charge from 0 to 100 percent. That is a long wait by current expectations, so the battery’s endurance is more useful if you can charge overnight or do not need frequent top-ups.

India price and whether it is still good value
The available India prices are historical, not current offers. Gadgets 360 reported on 8 February 2024 that the 128GB model with 12GB total memory, including virtual memory, was priced at Rs 7,999 inclusive of bank discounts and scheduled to go on sale on Amazon India from 13 February 2024. 91mobiles assessed the phone at Rs 7,499 in its review published 25 March 2024. Neither figure establishes today’s price, stock or the identity of a current retailer listing.
For a present-day buying decision, compare the exact P55 4G configuration and current price against alternatives on the same date. Dhruv Joshi’s review names the POCO C65 for buyers seeking faster performance and the Moto G24 Power for those prioritizing battery capacity and a stock-Android-like interface, but it does not establish current prices or provide a current head-to-head comparison. Check the display’s outdoor readability, gaming performance, camera results and verified software-update policy as well as the price.
Who should buy the itel P55 4G?
Consider it if your priorities are smooth scrolling, routine apps, casual gaming and battery endurance, and you mostly take photos in daylight. Look elsewhere if you need a screen that is easy to read in harsh sun, dependable low-light photography, faster charging, or a documented update commitment. Before buying, confirm that the listing is for the P55 4G—not the P55 5G or P55+—and check its memory configuration and current price.
