ISC2’s inaugural virtual career fair was scheduled for June 20, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern Time. That date has passed, and the available announcement does not establish a successor event or current employer registration. The fair was designed to let employers present cybersecurity roles and meet candidates online through virtual booths and live recruiter chats.
How the ISC2 career fair was meant to connect employers and candidates
ISC2 announced the event on June 4, 2024, as a virtual meeting place for cybersecurity professionals and public- and private-sector hiring managers. Candidates could share resumes, education histories and job interests, then browse employer booths for information about open roles, company culture and benefits. Recruiters could speak with job seekers by text, audio or video. Dark Reading’s reproduction of ISC2’s announcement describes those features.
For employers, that format offered a way to present opportunities and begin direct conversations with candidates in one online setting. For candidates, it offered a place to learn about employers and share career information. ISC2 CEO Clar Rosso described the intent as making hiring easier by bringing cyber talent together; that was the organizer’s stated goal, not a reported hiring outcome. The announcement does not establish that attendance guaranteed interviews, offers or placements.

The announcement said half of registered job seekers had an active ISC2 certification. That figure refers to people registered for the 2024 event, not the cybersecurity workforce overall. It also cited a 2024 workforce gap of 4 million cybersecurity professionals and more than 66,000 openings requesting CISSP, attributing the latter to CyberSeek. Those are figures cited in the announcement at the time, not current counts.

How a career fair fits into cybersecurity hiring
A later ISC2 analysis, published April 17, 2026, shows that cybersecurity hiring and job searches use several channels. Employee referrals were the most popular channel for both hiring managers and professionals, though the cited analysis does not provide a percentage in the available figures. LinkedIn was named by 49% of cybersecurity professionals and 40% of hiring managers. Recruiters were cited by 34% of professionals, while 40% of hiring managers said they used dedicated recruiters. General job boards were cited by 32% of professionals and 28% of hiring managers. These are survey findings about channel use, not evidence that one method is most effective for every employer or applicant. ISC2’s 2026 analysis provides the comparison.
Against that backdrop, an online fair is best understood as one possible way to create direct contact, alongside referrals, LinkedIn, recruiters and job boards—not as a replacement for those channels. The available sources do not compare the fair’s cost, reach or hiring results with other methods.

ISC2’s entry-level cybersecurity page lists career guidance, webinars, chapters and community resources. Its Candidate program describes career resources, certification study support, community and event benefits, with the first year free and annual dues of US$50 thereafter, according to the page. These resources are separate from the 2024 career fair and do not establish employer access to candidates through membership.
