A warning on Zelotes mouse software could be a false positive, but the brand name alone cannot establish that a particular installer is safe. Zelotes lists model-specific mouse drivers on its official download page; a separate 2019 sandbox report concerns a similarly named file but does not establish that it was an official driver or the same file you have. Check the exact model, download source, file identity, and antivirus detection before deciding what to do.
What does “Zelotes software” refer to?
It most likely means software for configuring or supporting a Zelotes mouse. The manufacturer’s English website has wired and wireless mouse categories and a driver download page with packages identified by model, including F-33pro, F-37, F-18, F-13, F-35C, F-33, F-36, C-12, T-50, T-90, T-80, and C-10. The listed packages have different displayed dates. The correct package depends on your exact mouse model; a similar filename or a generic driver site does not establish that a file came from the manufacturer.
What does an antivirus warning tell you?
A detection is a reason to investigate, not proof by itself that a file is malicious or harmless. Microsoft has explained that security classifiers can sometimes misclassify normal files. The exact file, its source, the detection label, and the security vendor’s current assessment all matter.
A digital signature can help identify a publisher and check file integrity, but it does not guarantee software quality, functionality, or safety. Treat it as one useful signal—not a clean bill of health.

Why the old “ZELOTES MOUSE.exe” report is not a verdict
An ANY.RUN sandbox report dated November 19, 2019 describes a sample named “ZELOTES MOUSE.exe” as behaving suspiciously. It lists behavior such as changing an autorun registry value and dropping or rewriting executables, and notes that user actions may affect results. The report does not establish that its sample came from Zelotes, matches a current model-specific driver, or is the file on your computer. It is a reason to check file identity carefully, not evidence that every Zelotes driver is malicious.
How to check a flagged Zelotes installer
- Match the mouse and package. Identify the exact model printed on the mouse or its packaging, then look for its corresponding package on the manufacturer’s download page. Do not treat a third-party driver listing as equivalent proof of origin.
- Record the file and alert details. Note the full filename, the URL you used to download it, the file hash if available, the antivirus product, and the exact detection label. A filename alone is not enough to identify a sample.
- Inspect the signature, if present. Check whether it is valid and which publisher it identifies. A valid signature supports identity and integrity checks; it does not prove the program is safe.
- Ask the detecting vendor to assess it. Use that security product’s false-positive reporting process. For Microsoft detections, Microsoft directs users to its Security Intelligence file submission portal.
- Use scan aggregators cautiously. VirusTotal can show results from multiple tools, but an aggregation is context, not a safety verdict. Before uploading, consider that submitted files may be shared with its community and, in some cases, premium customers. For a false-positive concern, contact the company behind the detecting product.
How to weigh the evidence
There are several plausible explanations for an alert, and the available information does not rank them for an unspecified installer. Compare the evidence on these points:

- Provenance: a model-matched download from the manufacturer’s site is different evidence from a file obtained from an unknown or third-party source.
- Identity: a hash and publisher information identify a particular file more precisely than its name alone.
- Detection: one vendor’s label is not the same as corroborating, current analysis from multiple sources.
- Date: a report about an older sample does not settle the status of a current download.
False alarms are one aspect of antivirus reliability, and testing organizations such as AV-Comparatives assess false positives in their evaluations. That does not provide a false-positive rate for current Zelotes drivers or determine whether your file is safe. No current scan result or file inspection is available here for a specific installer.

What to do while the alert is unresolved
If you cannot confirm that the file is the right package from the right source, or the detecting vendor has not assessed it, do not install or run it just because it is labeled as a mouse driver. Keep the alert details and submit the exact file or its identifying information through the security vendor’s reporting channel. A final assessment depends on the particular file, model, source, and detection—not on the Zelotes name alone.
