Yes, if you’re happy to find longer adventures inside a varied collection; probably not if you want one sustained campaign. UFO 50 includes a full JRPG and other more expansive games, but it is 50 separate titles—not one long story. Its shared fictional world and hidden connections add a thread to follow, though they don’t turn the collection into a conventional continuous plot.

What you’re buying

Mossmouth’s official Steam listing describes UFO 50 as a collection of 50 single-player and multiplayer games spanning platformers, shoot ’em ups, puzzle games, roguelites, and RPGs. Each is presented as a complete experience, but their lengths vary: some are small arcade-style games, while others are larger adventures. All 50 are available from the start, so there is no campaign progression that gradually unlocks the collection.

The game was released on September 18, 2024, according to the Steam listing. Its structure makes it easy to switch between different games, but it also means the experience is organized around variety rather than a single protagonist, genre, or plot.

Does UFO 50 have longer, story-driven games?

Grimstone is the clearest long-form example

The official listing calls Grimstone a full JRPG. It takes place in a fictional American West swallowed by Hell and features a player-created party, skill-based combat elements, and opportunities to avoid some overworld encounters strategically. The listing says it could take many hours to beat. That makes it a substantial option for someone seeking a longer game within the collection, but it is one title among 50—not the framework for the whole experience.

Other games offer exploration, not a uniform campaign

The listing also describes Campanella 2 as an exploratory adventure with procedurally generated levels. These examples demonstrate that the library includes more sustained experiences, but they don’t establish that all—or even most—of the games are long or story-heavy. Expect different scales and styles rather than a reliable run of lengthy narrative games.

Is there an overarching story?

There is a shared fictional backdrop, but not one continuous campaign. The games are framed as releases from a fictional 1980s company, UFO Soft. Recurring characters, sequels, connections, and secrets link parts of the library, giving curious players a broader world to piece together as they move between games.

A GamesRadar+ developer feature describes the Terminal, clues, and a scavenger hunt leading to a hidden 51st game. Developer Eric Suhrke characterized the design this way: “UFO 50 is all about exploration.” The hidden material is a discovery-oriented layer of storytelling; it is not evidence of a single plot that carries through every game.

Who is UFO 50 a good fit for?

  • Consider it if you like sampling genres, retro presentation, self-contained games, and the possibility of finding a longer adventure among shorter arcade experiences.
  • Think twice if you chiefly want one protagonist arc, a consistent combat system, or a plot that builds from beginning to end. UFO 50’s format puts a complete library of separate games at your fingertips instead.

That distinction is the key buying decision: you can spend many hours in an individual game such as Grimstone, but you should be comfortable choosing that game from a much broader, immediately accessible collection. If switching between styles sounds appealing, the variety is part of the draw. If it sounds like interruption from the story you want, a purpose-built long-form narrative game is likely a better match.

What do player reviews indicate?

As a dated snapshot checked in 2026, Steam showed 95% positive from 6,572 English-language user reviews and 84% positive from 50 recent reviews. Those figures can change, and the recent-review percentage comes from a much smaller sample; they are context about platform feedback, not a measure of how well the game fits your preference for a continuous story.
