At its reported U.S. launch price of $19.99, The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival is a cautious buy for fans who want a solo arcade brawler and can tolerate tough fights. Early Switch 2 reviews praise its familiar characters and settings but flag stiff controls, limited variety, punishing difficulty, and a bug reportedly capable of forcing a level restart. If smooth combat or dependable progression matters more to you, wait for confirmation that the bug has been fixed or for a lower price.

What kind of Walking Dead game is it?

Streets of Survival is a single-player, arcade-style beat ’em up—not a choice-driven adventure like Telltale’s The Walking Dead. Its story draws on the All Out War conflict, with Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and Michonne playable as survivors fighting walkers and the Saviors, including Negan. Nintendo’s listing places battles in familiar settings such as the Sanctuary, Hilltop, and Alexandria. Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing gives a September 18, 2026 release date.

Trailmark Games describes side-scrolling combat, character-specific fighting styles and signature weapons, replayable challenges, multiple difficulty levels, and an optional Easy Mode. Those are publisher descriptions, not a guarantee that the combat feels responsive or that the challenge is forgiving.

What do the early Switch 2 reviews say?

The early reviews are individual impressions, not a settled critical consensus. They differ in emphasis, but both point to reasons to be cautious about the moment-to-moment play.

#1 Best Overall
The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival Deluxe Edition - Nintendo Switch 2
  • Hard-Hitting Arcade Beat ’Em Up Combat - Use brutal melee abilities, crowd-clearing ranged attacks, or a mix of the two in fast-paced skirmishes. Enjoy responsive, crisp, and satisfying fighting gameplay while exploring the apocalypse.
  • Face Iconic Bosses - Take on powerful, fan-favorite walkers like Winslow, the Well Walker, and more. The Saviors provide their own challenges as you throw down with Negan and Simon in intense, multi-phase boss battles that test your skill, strategy, and survival instincts.
  • Replayable Arcade Challenge - Master each character’s move set and tackle multiple difficulty levels in an experience built for repeat runs and escalating challenges. Or jump in with an optional Easy Mode for casual play.
Review What it likes What to consider
The Gaming Outsider, October 3, 2026 Familiar Season 8 / All Out War material, pixel art, sound, and retro brawler nostalgia. Describes difficulty as punishing even on Easy and reports bugs that can force a level-wiping restart. The reviewer said the copy was provided for coverage.
Impulse Gamer, October 6, 2026 Familiar characters and locations provide some fun. Gives the game 3.1 and criticizes stiff controls and limited variety.

The progression issue deserves particular attention: a restart-causing bug can cost more than a frustrating encounter. Patch status has not been established, so check recent player reports or the game’s current update information before buying if you are concerned about losing progress.

Does the combat and difficulty sound right for you?

The central trade-off is between the appeal of a familiar cast and a straightforward brawler structure, and reports that the controls feel stiff and fights can be demanding. Character-specific weapons and moves may help distinguish the survivors, but the early reviews suggest that those differences do not eliminate concerns about limited variety.

Rank #2
The Walking Dead TV Board Game
  • Based on the most watched drama in basic cable history!
  • Take on the role of a Survivor from the show, collect supplies, and get back to Camp before it's too late!
  • Semi-cooperative gameplay. Help your friends to keep them from turning into Walkers!
  • If your Survivor dies, you come back as a Walker and now hunt the living!
  • A tense survival boardgame for 1-4 players, ages 15+, with easy to learn rules, and a 45 minute playing time.
  • Consider buying if you mainly want a retro-style brawler set in the All Out War era and are comfortable with challenging combat.
  • Wait for a patch update or discount if you want smooth controls, varied encounters, or a low-risk progression experience.
  • Do not buy it expecting a branching, choice-led Walking Dead story; this is an action brawler.

What does it cost, and how is it sold?

The Gaming Outsider and PS4Blog.net report a U.S. launch price of $19.99. That is a launch-price reference, not a confirmed current price for every region or storefront. Check the Nintendo eShop in your region for today’s price and any sale before purchasing.

Nintendo lists a digital download with a size of 2.2 GB and a PEGI 16 rating. Its listing identifies one-player, single-system play and seven languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, and Portuguese. A physical Switch 2 edition was not confirmed in the available sources, so do not assume one is available. Nintendo notes that additional storage may be required depending on the hardware model and use; the listed download size alone does not make a storage-card purchase necessary.

Who should buy it?

For Walking Dead fans who want a solo arcade brawler, the recognizable All Out War cast and locations make Streets of Survival a plausible pick at the reported launch price. The case is weaker for players who prioritize responsive controls, varied combat, or confidence that a difficult level will not need to be replayed because of a bug. If those are deal-breakers, waiting for clearer patch status or a sale is the safer choice.
