If you’re looking for a volume slider on your iPhone Lock Screen, use Control Center: open it while the phone is locked and drag the slider. Apple documents playback controls on the Lock Screen, but does not describe a setting that pins a permanent volume bar there.
How do I adjust the volume when my iPhone is locked?

Open Control Center from the Lock Screen. On an iPhone with Face ID, swipe down from the top-right corner. On other iPhone models, swipe up from the bottom edge.

Drag the volume slider to change the loudness. Apple says you can adjust volume in Control Center while iPhone is locked or while you’re using an app. See Apple’s instructions for adjusting iPhone volume.

Why can’t I see a volume slider on my Lock Screen?
The Lock Screen’s media controls and the volume slider are different controls. Apple documents Lock Screen playback controls such as play, pause, rewind, and fast-forward, but its guidance does not promise a permanent volume bar on the Lock Screen. The supported way to adjust volume while locked is through Control Center. Apple explains which features are accessible from the Lock Screen.

What if Control Center won’t open while the iPhone is locked?
Check that Control Center is allowed on the Lock Screen. The setting’s location depends on your iPhone’s authentication hardware:

On a model with a Home button, open Settings > Touch ID & Passcode.

Enter your passcode, then under Allow Access When Locked, enable Control Center. Apple lists Control Center and media playback controls among the features that can be made available while iPhone is locked. See Apple’s Lock Screen access settings.

How do I get music controls back on my iPhone Lock Screen?
Start or resume playback in your media app, then check the Lock Screen for the Now Playing controls. If playback controls are unavailable, check that media playback controls are allowed under Settings > Face ID & Passcode or Settings > Touch ID & Passcode, under Allow Access When Locked. These controls let you operate playback; they are not a persistent volume slider.

Use the iPhone’s volume buttons
The side volume buttons can change volume. Their behavior can depend on what you’re doing on the phone; Apple describes using the buttons and Control Center in its volume adjustment guidance.

Use Apple Music’s Now Playing screen
If you’re listening in Apple Music, open its Now Playing screen and drag the volume slider there. Apple also notes that the iPhone’s side buttons can adjust volume. This is an app-specific option, separate from the Lock Screen controls. See Apple’s guide to music player controls.
