The Tribit XSound Go can be a good buy below $40 if you want a portable speaker with clear vocals and long battery life. Its weaker bass and lack of app-based EQ make it less compelling for bass-heavy music or listeners who want to tune the sound. Tom’s Guide’s September 2026 review prefers the JBL Go 5 overall, but prices and product versions vary by market, so check the exact listing before choosing.
What version of the XSound Go are you considering?
The XSound Go has been revised since its original 2017 release. Tom’s Guide identifies Bluetooth 5.3 and USB-C on the version it reviewed in September 2026; older units may differ. Check the listing and photos for the generation and ports rather than assuming every XSound Go has the same hardware. The review also lists Bluetooth SBC, a 3.5 mm wired connection, and multipoint for its reviewed version. Tom’s Guide’s review
Tribit’s US product page lists two 40 mm drivers and one passive radiator and advertises waterproof use. Tom’s Guide lists an IPX7 rating for the version it reviewed. That rating concerns water resistance; it does not establish dust protection. Tribit’s XSound Go product page

Vocals and treble
Tom’s Guide describes the sound as lively in the treble, with clear, loud vocals. That balance can suit spoken audio and vocal-led music, especially if intelligibility matters more to you than a heavy low end.

Bass and sound adjustment
The same review finds the bass weak. The XSound Go is also not compatible with the Tribit app, so you cannot use the app’s custom EQ to adjust its sound. If you want stronger bass or the ability to tune the speaker, those are meaningful drawbacks rather than small feature omissions. Tom’s Guide’s review
What battery life can you expect?
Tribit claims up to 24 hours at moderate volume and says typical use is 18–20 hours. Separately, Tom’s Guide reports about 20 hours in its test at 50% volume. These are different contexts: the manufacturer’s maximum claim is not a guarantee for every listening level or usage pattern. Tribit’s XSound Go product page Tom’s Guide’s review

For historical context only, TechGearLab recorded 18.5 hours in a battery test of a legacy XSound Go in 2018. That result is not a test of the later Bluetooth 5.3 revision. TechGearLab’s 2018 review

How much does it cost, and is it good value?
Prices are snapshots, not dependable current quotes. Tribit’s US product page displayed $39.99 when surfaced for this article. Tom’s Guide’s September 2026 review reported roughly $39 in the US and £39 in the UK, with historical lows of $24 and £31, respectively.
