For a wired Sennheiser recommendation today, start with the Sennheiser IE 200. It is a wired in-ear monitor with an over-ear cable route, detachable MMCX cable and 3.5 mm plug—not an open-fit earbud. Recent reviewer praise makes it a strong candidate, but whether it suits you depends on getting a comfortable seal, liking its sound balance and having a way to connect its plug to your device.
What the IE 200 offers
Sennheiser lists a 7 mm dynamic driver, a frequency response of 6–20,000 Hz and a 1.2 m braided cable with MMCX connectors and an angled 3.5 mm plug. Those are manufacturer specifications, not guarantees of how the earphones will sound to an individual listener.
The box includes silicone and memory-foam eartips in S, M and L, plus a pouch. The cable routes over the ear, and the eartips sit in the ear canal to create a seal. That wearing style can feel different from conventional earbuds that rest at the opening of the ear.

Reviews are positive but point to a sound profile that will not be everybody’s preference. TechRadar’s August 2025 wired-earbuds guide names the IE 200 its top overall pick; its reviewer praises clarity and separation between musical elements. SoundGuys, in a March 2023 review, describes its frequency response as relatively subdued and cautions that its comparatively quieter bass may not suit listeners who want a bass-forward sound.

Fit is part of the sound, not just comfort. SoundGuys warns that an incorrect fit can affect frequency response. Try the supplied tip sizes and materials to find a secure, comfortable seal; if the sound seems thin or uneven, reseating the earphones or trying another tip may help. SoundGuys rated the IE 200 7.4/10 in that 2023 review, an editorial score rather than a measure of how all listeners will rate it.
Check the connection before you buy
The IE 200 terminates in a 3.5 mm plug. It connects directly to devices with a compatible headphone jack. If your phone has only USB-C, you will need a compatible USB-C DAC or adapter with a headphone output; that is an extra accessory, and compatibility can depend on the device and adapter. TechRadar notes the DAC route as an option, not something included with the earphones.

Cable and eartip replacements
The detachable MMCX cable gives you a way to replace the cable rather than treating it as permanently attached. Sennheiser lists an IE-series MMCX replacement cable and compatible silicone tips on its product page. At the time of the listing checked for this article, the US prices shown were $89.95 for the cable and $19.95 for the tip pack; prices can change. Confirm that any replacement cable or tips are explicitly compatible with the IE 200 before ordering, especially when considering third-party MMCX cables.

Is it the right Sennheiser wired option?
The IE 200 is the best-supported current Sennheiser wired recommendation here, but “best” depends on your needs. Choose it if you want an in-ear seal, a replaceable cable and a 3.5 mm connection, and you are comfortable trying different tips to get the fit right. Look elsewhere if you specifically want an open-fit design, need a plug that connects directly to a USB-C-only phone, or prefer stronger bass than reviewers describe.

Sennheiser’s CX 300S listing was indexed as temporarily out of stock, while the IE 200 product page was live. That does not establish current stock at every retailer or in every region, so check local availability before purchasing.
