The Redmi Pad 2 9.7 is suitable for casual games and lighter titles, but it is not a strong choice for demanding games if you expect consistently smooth, high-frame-rate play at high graphics settings. Its display can refresh at up to 120 Hz, but that is not the same as games rendering at 120 frames per second.
Which Redmi Pad 2 9.7 is this?
This assessment is about the REDMI Pad 2 9.7 4G, the smaller model powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2. Notebookcheck’s review identifies its tested configuration as 4 GB of RAM. It is not the separate 11-inch Redmi Pad 2, so do not assume that model’s specifications or gaming results apply here.
Xiaomi lists a display refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. That describes how often the screen can refresh; it does not guarantee that a game can render 120 frames per second. Actual frame rates depend on the game and its graphics settings, as the independent tests below demonstrate.

Notebookcheck’s 2026 game test reported these results for the tablet. Averages and observed ranges are test measurements, not guaranteed results for every unit or software version.

| Game | Reported result | What it suggests |
|---|---|---|
| Genshin Impact | Notebookcheck measured an average of 27.3 fps at its lowest tested setting, ranging from 9 to 36 fps. At its highest tested setting, it measured an average of 17 fps, ranging from 5 to 19 fps. | Expect a substantial performance limit in this demanding game, especially at higher graphics settings. |
| PUBG Mobile | Notebookcheck measured an average of 47.6 fps, ranging from 28 to 51 fps. | Performance was between the results for Genshin Impact and the lighter title tested. |
| Dead Trigger 2 | Notebookcheck measured an average of 57.6 fps, ranging from 41 to 60 fps. | The tablet performed better in this lighter game, though the test still did not show 120 fps. |
YugaTech’s separate 2026 review used GameBench and reported about 43 fps for Mobile Legends on medium graphics and an average of 26 fps for Genshin Impact on low graphics. The differing Genshin figures from the two publishers are a reminder that results can vary with test conditions, settings, and software build; they should not be treated as a single guaranteed rate.
YugaTech also reported a 3DMark Wild Life score of 588 and an average of 3.53 fps in that synthetic graphics benchmark. A benchmark score is useful as context, but it is not a prediction of the frame rate in every game.

Is it a good buy for the games you play?
Casual and lighter games
The evidence is more encouraging for lighter titles: Notebookcheck measured 57.6 fps on average in Dead Trigger 2. If your main use is casual gaming and you are comfortable with performance varying by title, the Redmi Pad 2 9.7 is a reasonable option.

If Genshin Impact or similar demanding games are your priority, go in expecting compromises. Notebookcheck’s averages were 27.3 fps at its lowest tested setting and 17 fps at its highest, while YugaTech reported 26 fps on low graphics in its separate test. Those observations point to limited performance rather than smooth high-frame-rate play.

Games between those extremes
PUBG Mobile averaged 47.6 fps in Notebookcheck’s test, with results ranging from 28 to 51 fps. That is better than the reported Genshin Impact results, but it is not a steady 120 fps experience. For any particular game, prioritize a test using that game and graphics preset over the tablet’s display refresh-rate specification.

- Confirm the model: look for the 9.7-inch 4G version with Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2, not the separate 11-inch Redmi Pad 2.
- Match performance evidence to your games: measured results vary by title, graphics preset, test publisher, and conditions. A game launching successfully does not by itself establish that it will run at your preferred frame rate.
- Separate screen refresh from game frame rate: the advertised maximum refresh rate is a display specification, not a promise of 120 fps gaming.
- Set graphics expectations realistically: the available Genshin Impact tests show much lower averages than the lighter-game result, particularly at the highest tested setting.
For specifications, Xiaomi’s product page describes the 9.7-inch 4G model. The measured game results are from Notebookcheck’s game test and YugaTech’s review; configuration and broader performance context appear in Notebookcheck’s full review.
