At the reported Newegg price of $399.99, the Gigabyte Radeon RX 9060 XT 8 GB is cheaper than PC Gamer’s October 8, 2026 price checks at other major retailers—but it is still about $100 above the $299 MSRP PC Gamer lists for the 8 GB model. The Newegg discount reportedly required an email signup, and its current availability needs to be checked. Whether $400 makes sense depends largely on your games, settings, and whether you can spend $120 more for the 16 GB version.
What the reported $400 price actually means
PC Gamer’s October 8, 2026 deal report listed a Gigabyte RX 9060 XT 8 GB at Newegg for $399.99, reduced from $509.99, with email signup required to receive the discount. The same report gives the 8 GB card a $299 MSRP, so the deal price is roughly $100 above that figure. It is a discount from the listed Newegg price, not a return to MSRP. PC Gamer’s deal report called it a one-month low; the available price-watch information does not independently establish the full preceding-month price history.
PC Gamer’s price-watch page, also updated October 8, listed the 8 GB card at $459.99 from Amazon and Best Buy and $469.99 from Walmart. Those are that publisher’s price checks at the time, not guaranteed live prices or market averages; its tracker notes that listed prices may be the lowest available and can reflect one-off deals. The 8 GB model has 2048 shaders, a reported boost clock of 3320 MHz, and GDDR6 memory. Its performance relative to the 16 GB RX 9060 XT varies by game and settings. PC Gamer’s selected 1080p benchmark figures show a modest difference in one example and a larger one in another:
#1 Best Overall
- Chipset: AMD RX 9060 XT
- Memory: 16 GB GDDR6
- XFX SWFT Dual Fan Cooling Solution
- Boost Clock Up to 3320 MHz
| PC Gamer-reported 1080p result | RX 9060 XT 8 GB | RX 9060 XT 16 GB |
|---|---|---|
| Black Myth: Wukong, High — average FPS | 71 | 73 |
| Black Myth: Wukong, High — 1% low FPS | 58 | 63 |
| Cyberpunk 2077, RT Ultra — average FPS | 41 | 49 |
| Cyberpunk 2077, RT Ultra — 1% low FPS | 26 | 39 |
These are PC Gamer’s reported results for those titles and settings, not a guarantee of performance in other games or a separate independent test. The gap in Cyberpunk 2077’s reported ray-tracing results is much wider than in the Black Myth: Wukong example, illustrating why a single benchmark cannot settle the choice. Is the 16 GB card worth $120 more?
PC Gamer’s October 8 price-watch checks put the RX 9060 XT 16 GB at $519.99 from Newegg, Amazon, and Walmart. Against the reported $399.99 Newegg promotion for the 8 GB card, that is a $120 difference. The practical question is whether paying that premium for twice the memory and the observed game-specific performance differences suits your priorities and budget.

How it compares with an RTX 5060
There is no universal winner based on the information reported here. PC Gamer describes the RX 9060 XT as stronger in raw GPU power in many games, while identifying the RTX 5060’s upscaling and frame-generation features as advantages. Ray-tracing results vary by title. Compare the games you actually play, their ray-tracing modes, the quality and availability of each card’s upscaling and frame-generation features, VRAM capacity, and the live price of the exact models you are considering. A broad claim about one card being faster or better value would hide those game- and feature-specific trade-offs.

- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
- Dual BIOS switch lets you toggle between Quiet and Performance BIOS profiles
- Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs
Is $400 a good buy?
The reported offer is relatively attractive against the October 8 retailer prices PC Gamer listed, but it is not below the stated MSRP, and its discount required an email signup. The one-month-low wording belongs to PC Gamer’s own price tracking rather than a separately established price history. The wider GPU market provides context, but it does not change those points: a September 2026 PC Gamer retrospective attributed recent GPU price increases to a memory crisis, without establishing a specific price trend for this RX 9060 XT model. PC Gamer’s September 2026 GPU price retrospective
If the live Newegg listing still offers the reported $399.99 price and you accept the signup condition, it may be a reasonable option for a budget-conscious buyer whose games suit the 8 GB card. If you can stretch to $519.99, compare the 16 GB model against your intended games and settings before choosing. Recheck current listings: the cited prices are dated publisher checks, not a promise that either offer remains available.
