It could be a good value for adding compatible PC or gaming storage, but the price is time-sensitive: PC Gamer reported the 1 TB PNY CS2241 at Amazon for $135.99, down from $159.99, on October 6, 2026. That is the publication’s reported offer, not a verified live price or stock check. Confirm the current listing before buying.
What the reported Prime Day deal includes
The offer is for the 1 TB PNY CS2241, an internal M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe Gen4 x4 SSD. PC Gamer’s October 6, 2026 article described the $135.99 offer as about $0.13 per GB and called it “easily the most affordable 1 TB NVMe SSD I would recommend right now.” That is author Jess Kinghorn’s dated editorial judgment, not a market-wide ranking or a guarantee the price remains available.
The reported reduction from $159.99 is $24. Because the underlying Amazon offer has not been independently checked here, confirm the price, stock, shipping terms, and any Prime eligibility on the listing. The per-gigabyte figure is an approximate division of the reported price by 1,000 GB; usable capacity shown by a device may be lower after formatting and system overhead.

Before ordering, check the device’s specifications or service manual for an available M.2 2280 slot that supports NVMe. The M.2 label alone does not establish compatibility: M.2 describes the physical card format, while NVMe and PCIe describe the storage protocol and interface. A device that accepts only a different M.2 length, SATA M.2 drive, or no user-installable SSD may not work with this model.

PNY lists the CS2241 for compatible desktops, laptops, and handheld gaming devices. That is a category-level compatibility statement, not confirmation for any particular model. Check physical clearance, slot support, and whether installation is supported before buying.
How fast is the PNY CS2241?
PNY lists maximum sequential performance of 5,100 MB/s read and 3,200 MB/s write for the 1 TB model. These are manufacturer ratings, not guaranteed sustained speeds: PNY says actual performance varies with the host device, settings, configuration, operating system, and applications.

For a game library or files that do not need immediate access, those specifications may be sufficient; a faster-rated drive is not automatically worth paying more for if your workload or system cannot take advantage of it. In PC Gamer’s comparison, the Biwin Black Opal NV7400 was cited at 7,400 MB/s read and 6,500 MB/s write. That comparison reflects the article’s reported specifications and editorial assessment, not an independently verified head-to-head test.

PNY lists a five-year limited warranty or TBW for the CS2241. The warranty document includes the M.2 2280, 1 TB configuration, but coverage terms can vary by region. Check PNY’s warranty terms for your country and the applicable TBW limit before relying on the warranty period as a complete measure of coverage.

How to decide whether to buy
- Consider it if the current listing is near the reported price, your device has an available NVMe-compatible M.2 2280 slot, and your priority is affordable capacity rather than top-tier sequential speed.
- Compare alternatives if you need higher rated throughput, have a sustained heavy-write workload, or find another compatible 1 TB drive at a better current price. Compare the live price per usable capacity, read and write ratings, warranty terms, and intended workload.
- Wait or choose another format if your device lacks the right slot or you cannot verify compatibility. Do not assume that every M.2-equipped device supports this NVMe drive.
