Yes—if you choose a Windows Legion Go S. It is the more suitable configuration for installing and playing PC Game Pass games locally. Lenovo also sells SteamOS models, but the official Xbox information reviewed here does not establish native PC Game Pass installation on those models. Check the operating system and exact hardware on the listing before buying.
Which Legion Go S works best for PC Game Pass?
For PC Game Pass downloads and local play, choose a Legion Go S that explicitly lists Windows as its operating system. The Legion Go S name covers both Windows and SteamOS versions, so the family name alone does not tell you which software it runs. Lenovo’s product page distinguishes the models, and its PSREF specifications show that configurations can also differ in processor, memory, and storage.
Windows: the direct fit for installing PC games
Windows is the prudent choice when your plan is to install PC Game Pass games and play them on the device. Confirm that the specific listing is a Windows SKU, then compare its processor, RAM, storage, and price with other available configurations. Do not assume those details are identical across Legion Go S models.

SteamOS: better suited to a Steam-centered library
Lenovo provides a SteamOS guide that includes desktop-mode instructions, but the Xbox sources reviewed for this guide do not confirm native PC Game Pass installation on the SteamOS Legion Go S. Treat cloud gaming as a separate possibility: it depends on the browser, subscription plan, network, game, and region, and no SteamOS-specific Legion Go S guarantee is established here. Cloud streaming is not the same as downloading and running the Windows PC version locally.

What to compare before you buy
| Choice | Best fit | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Windows Legion Go S | Installing and playing PC Game Pass games locally | That the exact SKU runs Windows, plus its processor, RAM, storage, and current local price |
| SteamOS Legion Go S | A library and interface centered on Steam | That SteamOS suits your games; do not count on native PC Game Pass installation based on the official sources cited here |
Lenovo lists microSD expansion and USB4 Type-C connectivity on the Legion Go S product page. These can be useful for adding storage or connecting a dock and external display, but neither is required to use Game Pass. Lenovo also lists a 55.5 Wh battery; that is a manufacturer specification, not a guarantee of a particular play time. Check the precise SKU’s specifications before relying on any hardware detail.
Check your games, not just the subscription
A Game Pass catalog listing does not, by itself, tell you how well a game will work on a handheld. Xbox’s Handheld Compatibility program offers guidance for individual titles; Xbox says, “The Handheld Compatibility program helps you understand when a game will work on your compatible handheld.” Use it to screen the games you care about, while remembering that compatibility guidance is not a promise of identical controls or performance for every game.

Is it worth buying at the price you found?
There is no universal best-value answer without a current price and exact SKU. Compare the Windows and SteamOS listings available in your region, including processor, RAM, storage, and operating system. If local PC Game Pass installation is the main reason for buying, a cheaper SteamOS listing is not an equivalent substitute.

Subscription terms, catalog contents, stock, prices, and any promotional trial can change by region and date. Check the current Game Pass terms and the specific retailer or Lenovo listing before paying. Older Lenovo marketing mentioned a three-month PC Game Pass offer, but it does not establish that an offer is available now. Lenovo also notes on its product page that “Legion Space is available on Windows models only”; that software detail is not a Game Pass compatibility guarantee.
