For people who want a premium, portable ChromeOS laptop, the Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 is a convincing spiritual successor to the Google Pixelbook Go. It combines an OLED display, a lightweight aluminum chassis, capable everyday performance and strong battery life. But Lenovo and Google have not described it as a direct successor, and it is not the right replacement for everyone: ChromeOS app compatibility, price and a small port selection deserve a close look.

Is it really the Pixelbook Go’s successor?

In the practical sense, it can be. Both laptops are portable ChromeOS clamshells aimed at people who want a polished laptop for everyday work, browsing and entertainment. The Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 updates that idea with a larger OLED screen, newer hardware and Chromebook Plus features.

“Successor” is a useful description of the role it could fill, not an official product lineage. Google’s June 2025 announcement and Lenovo’s product materials describe the Chromebook Plus 14’s features but do not call it a Pixelbook Go replacement. Google announced the Lenovo model on June 23, 2025; Lenovo’s current US product naming is Chromebook Plus Gen 10 (14” MediaTek), while its launch materials call it Chromebook Plus (14”, 10). Google’s announcement and Lenovo’s launch release establish the new laptop’s features, not a corporate succession claim.

How the Lenovo compares with the Pixelbook Go

The Pixelbook Go was announced in 2019 with a 13.3-inch 16:9 display and a historical claimed battery life of up to 12 hours. Those are useful points of comparison, not a current product listing. The Lenovo offers a larger 14-inch 16:10 screen and more recent hardware. The historical Pixelbook Go details below come from a secondary reference. Laptop Mag’s Pixelbook Go reference

What makes the Lenovo feel like an upgrade?

A roomier OLED display

Lenovo’s 14-inch 1920 × 1200 OLED panel has a 16:10 aspect ratio, which gives it more vertical workspace than a 16:9 screen of the same width. It is not a 3:2 display, but it is larger and taller than the Pixelbook Go’s 13.3-inch 16:9 panel. Lenovo lists 400-nit brightness and 100% DCI-P3 color coverage; touch is optional, so check the exact model listing if you want a touchscreen. Lenovo’s specifications

Light, considered hardware

Lenovo lists an aluminum chassis, a backlit keyboard and a 5MP RGB webcam with a physical shutter. Its listed starting weight is 1.17kg (2.58 lb), but TechRadar’s review unit weighed 1.26kg, a reminder that the configuration and measured unit matter. Lenovo also specifies four 2W speakers with Dolby Atmos, dual microphones, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Lenovo specifications; TechRadar review

Everyday performance and Chromebook Plus AI

The Kompanio Ultra 910, paired with the 16GB memory configuration tested by reviewers, handled ordinary productivity, multitasking, video streaming and some Android gaming well in the reviewed use cases. That does not make ChromeOS interchangeable with Windows: software compatibility and customization are different, so verify any desktop-app or specialized-workflow requirement before switching.

Google says the laptop’s NPU can reach up to 50 TOPS, or trillions of operations per second. That is a manufacturer-stated maximum for the neural processing unit, not a general measure of laptop speed. Google’s launch announcement also introduced Chromebook AI features, including tools for working with text and screen content; feature availability can depend on software, account, region or eligibility. Battery life: strong results, but not a guarantee

Google’s “up to 17 hours” claim is based on controlled web-browsing tests on pre-production devices running ChromeOS version 135.16209.50.0; Google says actual life varies with network, location, settings and usage. Lenovo also advertises up to 17 hours, describing its own figures as approximate and based on internal tests under optimal laboratory and network conditions. Google; Lenovo

Independent reviews provide a more practical reference, though their results should not be averaged because the methods differ. TechRadar recorded 14 hours 4 minutes in a continuous movie-playback test from full charge; Tom’s Guide recorded 13 hours 19 minutes in its own battery test. Your result will depend on workload and settings. TechRadar; Tom’s Guide

Ports, price and the trade-offs to weigh

Three USB ports and limited expansion

Lenovo lists two USB-C ports (5Gbps), one USB-A port (5Gbps) and a combo audio jack. It also specifies support for two external 4K displays. TechRadar called the total port selection a drawback. If you regularly connect several peripherals, an appropriate USB-C hub may help, but check the hub’s charging and display capabilities against your setup. Lenovo’s specification does not establish compatibility with a particular hub. Lenovo; TechRadar

Compare the actual local price

Lenovo’s launch release listed a $649 starting price in 2025, while TechRadar reported $749.99, £699 and AU$1,197 at review time. These market- and date-specific figures should not be treated as current quotes: Lenovo says prices can change, and reseller prices vary. Compare the exact configuration and local sale price with Windows alternatives before deciding it is good value. Lenovo launch release; TechRadar review

Lenovo lists configurations of up to 16GB memory and up to 256GB storage, but options vary by market and model. TechRadar notes that a stylus is not included, so buyers who want pen input should verify whether the selected configuration supports the accessory they intend to use. Lenovo; TechRadar

Who should choose it as a Pixelbook Go replacement?

  • Good fit: former Pixelbook Go owners who want a premium ChromeOS clamshell, OLED color, light productivity and long sessions away from a charger.
  • Think twice: anyone dependent on Windows desktop apps, extensive built-in connectivity, a low purchase price or an included stylus.
  • Before buying: confirm local price, memory and storage, touchscreen availability, and whether your essential apps and accessories work with ChromeOS.
