Yes—the Genesis G90 is a credible contender among full-size luxury sedans, but the available evidence cannot establish one car as the world’s best. The 2026 U.S. G90 starts at a listed MSRP of $92,700, offers three all-wheel-drive trims and combines a powerful V6 with features Genesis says are designed for comfort. Whether it is the right choice over a Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7 Series depends on how you weigh equipment and price against brand recognition, measured comfort, performance, safety evidence and local ownership support.
What the 2026 Genesis G90 offers in the U.S.
Genesis identifies the G90 as its U.S. flagship sedan. Its current U.S. model page lists three all-wheel-drive trims, with prices and specifications shown below. MSRP is the manufacturer’s listed price, not a guaranteed transaction price; availability and actual dealer pricing can vary.
| 2026 U.S. trim | Listed MSRP | Engine output | Listed city/highway fuel economy |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3.5T AWD | $92,700 | 375 hp; 391 lb-ft | 18/26 mpg |
| 3.5T e-S/C AWD | $103,000 | 409 hp; 405 lb-ft | 17/24 mpg |
| 3.5T e-S/C Prestige Black AWD | $105,750 | 409 hp; 405 lb-ft | 17/24 mpg |
All three use a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 and an eight-speed automatic, according to Genesis’s 2026 U.S. model page. The same page lists the sedan at 207.7 inches long, 76 inches wide and on a 125.2-inch wheelbase. Those dimensions indicate a substantial full-size car, but they do not by themselves establish how spacious or comfortable it feels in practice.

Genesis highlights available 21-inch wheels, signature headlamps and massaging ergonomic seats. Those are manufacturer-described features, not independent measurements of ride quality, seat comfort or cabin quietness. For a car in this class, shoppers should assess both front and rear seats in person and confirm which features are included on the specific trim and vehicle.

Genesis calls the G90 “an icon of refined luxury” and says it is “designed to indulge.” That is the automaker’s positioning, not an independent verdict on its luxury credentials.
Is the Genesis G90 worth it?
The G90 makes a plausible value case if you want a large, feature-rich luxury sedan and find its equipment and driving experience compelling at the price. Its listed entry MSRP is below $100,000, while the two e-S/C trims cost more and have higher listed output. The listed fuel-economy figures are also lower for those two trims than for the 3.5T AWD.

Price alone cannot settle whether the G90 is worth it. Compare the exact vehicle’s transaction price and included equipment with same-model-year rivals, then consider comfort, engine response, fuel economy, safety information, warranty terms and the availability of dealer support where you live.

How does the G90 compare with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series?
The S-Class and 7 Series are relevant alternatives in the full-size luxury-sedan class. Car and Driver identifies established brand pedigree as a challenge for the G90 among shoppers familiar with those nameplates. That makes brand recognition a legitimate personal consideration—not proof that either rival is objectively better, or that the G90 beats them.

A fair comparison needs matching model years and markets. The available information does not provide a complete, like-for-like current-spec comparison of the G90, S-Class and 7 Series, so it does not support a ranking on price, standard equipment, power, fuel economy, cabin space or ownership terms. Use these checks when comparing specific cars:
- Price and equipment: Compare actual quotes and the features included on each configuration, rather than comparing one car’s base price with another’s better-equipped version.
- Passenger comfort: Try the front and rear seats, including any available massage functions, and assess access, support and ride comfort for your own needs.
- Performance and efficiency: Compare the relevant engines and the manufacturer’s figures, then consider whether added output is worth any efficiency trade-off.
- Safety: Check ratings for the exact model year and configuration instead of assuming one year’s award applies to another.
- Ownership support: Review warranty and maintenance terms, and check the practical availability of service near you.
- Brand recognition: Decide how much the badge matters to you at purchase and resale; it is a preference, not a measure of the car’s comfort or equipment.
What is known about G90 safety and ownership coverage?
Genesis says the 2025 G90 was named an IIHS Top Safety Pick. This is a claim about the 2025 model year reported on Genesis’s U.S. site; it should not be treated as an award for every G90 model year. Buyers should verify the underlying IIHS record for the exact vehicle they are considering.

So, is the G90 a contender for the world’s best luxury car?
It is a credible contender in its class, particularly for a buyer drawn to its equipment, substantial dimensions and listed U.S. pricing. But “world’s best” depends on what matters most to an individual, and a confident head-to-head verdict would require comparable specifications and independent evaluation of the current rivals. Treat the G90 as a serious candidate to test-drive—not as a proven universal winner.
