What was the Galaxy Z Fold7 deal?
On September 30, 2026, 9to5Google reported that Amazon was selling the unlocked, Mint, 256GB Galaxy Z Fold7 for $1,350. The offer was described as ending that day or sooner if it sold out. 9to5Toys reported the same configuration at $1,349.99 shipped that day. The one-cent difference is a difference in the displayed reported price, not evidence of separate current offers. 9to5Google’s September 30 deal report and 9to5Toys’ report document the historical promotion.
Those reports apply to the 256GB Mint model specified by 9to5Google; they do not establish that the same price applied to other colors or storage capacities. The promotion’s deadline has passed, and the cited reports do not confirm whether Amazon has since renewed it.

What did “the price of a normal smartphone” mean?
The headline compared the reported $1,350 Fold7 sale price with a premium, conventional slab phone—not with the average price of all smartphones. In its September 30 report, 9to5Google put Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra at $1,400, making the Fold7 deal $50 less by that comparison. The cited sources do not establish a market-wide average for “normal smartphones.”

Compare the buying options before checkout
For a fair comparison, match the unlocked 256GB configuration and compare the final price and terms rather than treating Samsung’s list price as an Amazon quote.
