In India, the Galaxy S25 Ultra costs ₹80,000 more than the Motorola Edge 70 Pro at the official-store prices displayed on 7 October 2026. Samsung’s phone offers a more versatile rear camera system, including dedicated 3× and 5× optical telephoto cameras, and a higher-resolution display. Motorola’s listed advantages include a larger battery, a higher maximum refresh rate and substantially lower weight. Which makes better sense depends on whether you value Samsung’s camera and flagship positioning enough to pay the difference.

India price difference: the S25 Ultra is ₹80,000 more in the official-store snapshot

On 7 October 2026, Samsung India displayed the 256GB/12GB Galaxy S25 Ultra at ₹119,999, against an MRP of ₹129,999. Its page also listed a 512GB/12GB model at ₹139,999. Motorola India displayed the Edge 70 Pro at ₹39,999 against an MRP of ₹51,999, with 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB variants shown. The difference between the two displayed entry prices is ₹80,000. Samsung India’s buy page and Motorola India’s listing can change with stock and offers, so treat these as a dated snapshot, not a guaranteed checkout price or a matched retailer deal.

Retail listings were different on the same date. 91mobiles’ comparison showed ₹99,999 for the Samsung on Amazon and ₹36,999 for the Motorola on Flipkart; Gadgets 360 reported ₹39,999 for the Motorola at Flipkart. These are retailer-specific listings, not directly interchangeable with the official-store figures. Check the exact RAM and storage configuration, seller, current offer and any exchange condition before comparing checkout totals.

Samsung measures the S25 Ultra’s display at 6.9 inches across the full rectangle and 6.8 inches with rounded corners; the usable area is smaller because of the rounded corners and camera hole. Motorola lists peak brightness of up to 5,200 nits and HBM brightness of 1,800 nits. Those are manufacturer-listed figures, not directly comparable lab measurements, so they do not establish which screen is brighter in the same conditions. Samsung Newsroom India’s specifications and Motorola Support India’s specifications provide the manufacturer details.

Which phone has the more versatile camera system?

The S25 Ultra has two listed optical telephoto cameras: one with 3× and another with 5× optical zoom. Motorola’s cited official specification lists a main camera and an ultrawide camera with macro capability, but no dedicated telephoto camera. That gives Samsung more dedicated hardware for optical zoom. It does not, by itself, prove which phone takes better photographs; megapixel counts and camera specifications are not substitutes for comparable image testing.

The Edge 70 Pro’s listed front camera has higher resolution—50MP versus Samsung’s 12MP—and autofocus. Resolution alone does not determine selfie quality, skin tones, low-light results or video performance, which would require independent testing.

Display, battery and weight: pick the trade-off that matters to you

Display resolution versus refresh-rate ceiling

Samsung lists a larger, higher-resolution QHD+ panel with adaptive refresh from 1Hz to 120Hz. Motorola lists a 6.8-inch 2772 × 1272 display that can reach 144Hz. The Motorola specification gives it the higher maximum refresh rate, while Samsung lists the higher resolution. A 144Hz ceiling alone does not establish that every app or everyday interaction will look or feel smoother.

Battery capacity is not a runtime result

Motorola lists a 6,500mAh battery, compared with Samsung’s 5,000mAh. That is a capacity advantage on paper, not proof of longer screen-on time: actual endurance depends on use and conditions, and no comparable battery test is established here. Motorola lists 90W TurboPower wired charging and 5W wired reverse charging; the Samsung source cited for this comparison does not provide a directly comparable wired charging rate.

Motorola is lighter on the listed figures

Samsung lists the S25 Ultra at 218g. Motorola’s support page gives different weights by finish: 183g for silk/suit finishes and 190g for acetate. The Edge 70 Pro is therefore lighter on the published figures, with the exact difference depending on finish.

Performance and software: avoid treating claims as a head-to-head test

The S25 Ultra uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, while the Edge 70 Pro uses the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme. Samsung’s 2025 launch material claimed 40% higher NPU, 37% higher CPU and 30% higher GPU performance versus the previous generation; those are Samsung’s comparisons, not independent measurements against Motorola’s phone. Samsung’s launch announcement provides that context.

91mobiles’ comparison page reports Geekbench Multi-Core scores of 10,105 for Samsung and 6,864 for Motorola. The reported results do not establish the test method, software version, device state or sample size, so they should not be treated as a controlled head-to-head result or a prediction of performance in every task.

At launch, Samsung identified Android 15 with One UI 7 for the S25 Ultra. Motorola’s support page lists Android 16 and promises up to three years of OS upgrades and security patches. Current software versions and rollout schedules can change; check the policy and update availability for the exact Indian model before buying for long-term software support.

Durability and connectivity claims are manufacturer-listed

Samsung’s launch material identifies a titanium frame and Gorilla Armor 2. Motorola lists IP69/IP68 ratings, MIL-STD 810H, Wi-Fi 6E, NFC and dual Nano-SIM support, while noting specifications can vary by market. These certifications and materials describe listed features; they do not guarantee that a phone will survive a particular drop or other real-world damage. Confirm the exact Indian variant’s connectivity and protection details before purchase.

Which should you buy?

  • Choose the Galaxy S25 Ultra if you specifically want its listed 3× and 5× optical telephoto cameras, QHD+ display and premium flagship chipset positioning, and the dated India price premium fits your budget.
  • Choose the Edge 70 Pro if the lower displayed price, larger listed battery, higher refresh-rate ceiling or lighter listed weight matters more, and you do not require a dedicated telephoto camera.
  • Compare matching configurations. Both are listed with 256GB storage, but Samsung’s India page lists 12GB RAM while Motorola offers 8GB or 12GB RAM. Make sure the price comparison uses the Motorola RAM variant you intend to buy.

Before paying, check current prices at the same retailer and date, confirm the precise RAM/storage and finish, and review the seller’s return and warranty terms. Store prices and availability can change.
