As of October 3, 2026, no official source reviewed confirms a free Pokémon 30th Anniversary Mewtwo promo card giveaway in the United States or Japan for October 3–4. Pokémon’s U.S. October product announcement lists 30th Celebration products for sale, but does not say that buying one earns a Mewtwo card. The official Japanese anniversary promotions describe different offers. So there is no verified retailer, qualifying purchase, or set of instructions for getting the specific free card this weekend.
What is confirmed in the United States this weekend?
Pokémon’s October 1, 2026 announcement lists several 30th Celebration TCG products available October 2, including a Booster Bundle containing six booster packs. It says to look for Pokémon TCG products at the Pokémon Center and other places where the cards are sold, but does not announce a free Mewtwo promo or identify any purchase that qualifies for one. Read Pokémon’s October 2026 product release announcement.
That means the Booster Bundle is a confirmed product release, not a verified way to get the claimed free card. The announcement does not establish participating stores, a spending threshold, eligible products, online eligibility, dates for a giveaway, or stock limits for a Mewtwo promo.

What are the confirmed Japanese anniversary promotions?
Gym Battle participation prize
In Japan, an official anniversary promotion runs from September 16, 2026, through January 31, 2027. Participants in Gym Battles can receive a 30th Promo Card Pack, which replaces one of the two usual one-card promo packs awarded as participation prizes. The pack’s listed selection includes Greninja ex, Sylveon ex, Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno, Alolan Exeggutor, and Lucario—not the specific Mewtwo promo in the title. Supplies are limited and distribution ends when they run out. See the official Japanese Gym Battle promotion details.

30th Celebration events
The Japanese anniversary event is scheduled for October 25, 2026, at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, and October 31–November 1 at Intex Osaka. Admission is free by advance lottery, according to the official event page; its published hours are 9:00–19:30, with reception planned to close at 17:30, though the organizer says timings may change. These events are later than October 3–4, and the page does not confirm that attendees receive the named Mewtwo card. Check the official Japanese event page.

A separate official Mewtwo product is coming in November
Pokémon’s June 30 showcase lists the Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Figure Collection—Mew & Mewtwo for November 6, 2026. It includes a foil promo card and oversized card featuring Mew or Mewtwo, a figure, and five booster packs. This is a separate boxed product, not a confirmed free weekend giveaway. How to check a claimed free-card offer before making a purchase
Because the offer’s terms are not confirmed by the official sources cited here, do not buy a product on the assumption that it qualifies. Before relying on a retailer post or promotion listing, check whether it identifies all of the following:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- The exact card name or image and whether the card is free with purchase.
- Participating stores and whether the promotion applies online, in-store, or both.
- The qualifying product or minimum spend, plus the offer’s start and end dates.
- The country or region covered and any stock limitations.
Until Pokémon or a participating retailer publishes those terms, claims naming a store or purchase requirement remain unverified.
