A report published October 8, 2026, said the 2024 Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition with 32GB was available for $170—$80 below a stated $250 regular price—after Prime Big Deal Days. That report described a limited-time offer; it does not confirm the price is still live on October 9. Check Amazon’s current listing for the exact model, seller, marketplace, price, and availability before buying.
What the reported $80 discount applies to
The reported deal is for the 2024 Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, 32GB, not the newer Paperwhite generation Amazon announced in 2026. Gizmodo reported the $170 offer on October 8, 2026, calling it $80 off a stated $250 normal price. Read Gizmodo’s October 8 report. The report is a dated snapshot, not confirmation of today’s listing or price.
Before placing an order, make sure the listing says Signature Edition and 32GB, and check who is selling it and which Amazon marketplace you are using. Do not assume a listing for the new 2026 model carries the reported discount.

How the 2024 Signature Edition differs
Amazon’s announcement for the earlier generation describes the 2024 Paperwhite as having a 7-inch display, waterproofing, 16GB of storage, and battery life of up to three months. Amazon says the 2024 Signature Edition adds 32GB of storage, optional wireless charging, and an auto-adjusting front light. These are manufacturer specifications for the 2024 models. See Amazon’s 2024 Paperwhite announcement.
#1 Best Overall
- Our fastest Kindle Paperwhite ever – The next-generation 7“ Paperwhite display has a higher contrast ratio and 25% faster page turns.
- Upgrade your reading experience – The Signature Edition features an auto-adjusting front light, wireless charging, and 32 GB storage.
- Ready for travel – The ultra-thin design has a larger glare-free screen so pages stay sharp no matter where you are.
- Escape into your books – Your Kindle doesn’t have social media, notifications, or other distracting apps.
- Adapts to your surroundings – The auto-adjusting front light lets you read in the brightest sunlight or late into the night.
For readers choosing between that generation’s standard and Signature models, the stated differences to weigh are storage and convenience features: the Signature Edition has twice the listed storage, wireless charging support, and an auto-adjusting front light. The deal report concerns the Signature Edition.
How it compares with the 2026 Paperwhite
Amazon’s 2026 announcement covers a newer lineup. It describes the new Paperwhite as having adjustable warm light, waterproofing, and up to 12 weeks of battery life. The 2026 Signature Edition adds 32GB storage, an auto-adjusting front light, and charging-dock support. Amazon listed announced prices of $199.99 for the standard Paperwhite and $249.99 for the Signature Edition at launch; those are announcement prices, not confirmation of current live prices. See Amazon’s 2026 lineup announcement.
Rank #2
Those 2026 specifications and prices should not be attributed to the discounted 2024 device. If you are comparing generations, first confirm the year and model in each listing, then decide whether the older Signature Edition’s listed features meet your needs or whether you want the new generation.
Is $170 a particularly good price?
The reported $170 offer is lower than the stated $250 normal price, but that comparison alone does not establish the device’s lowest-ever price or make this its best deal. Amazon’s June 2026 Prime Day page listed a separate $144.99 promotional price for a Paperwhite Signature Edition. That was an earlier event price, not proof of October availability or a complete price history. See Amazon’s June 2026 Kindle Prime Day deal page.
Rank #3
- Our fastest Kindle Paperwhite ever – The next-generation 7“ Paperwhite display has a higher contrast ratio and 25% faster page turns.
- Upgrade your reading experience – The Signature Edition features an auto-adjusting front light, wireless charging, and 32 GB storage.

- Escape into your books – Your Kindle doesn’t have social media, notifications, or other distracting apps.
- Adapts to your surroundings – The auto-adjusting front light lets you read in the brightest sunlight or late into the night.
So the practical answer is: the $80-off price was reported after Prime Day, but whether it remains available now must be confirmed on the live listing. Compare the current price with the earlier June promotion if you are judging value, while keeping in mind that a past promotion does not guarantee a future one.
