Apple’s US Certified Refurbished store listing documents the 15-inch MacBook Air with M4 at $1,019, down from $1,199—a $180 reduction, or about 15%. That is a refurbished listing, not proof of a current discount on a new MacBook Air; availability and price can change. The M4 model pairs a 15.3-inch display with 16GB of unified memory and a 256GB SSD in its base configuration, making it a strong fit for everyday work if those capacities suit your needs.
Is the 15% MacBook Air M4 deal real?
Yes, as a documented comparison for an Apple Certified Refurbished unit: Apple’s store listing showed $1,019 against a former price of $1,199 when accessed on October 1, 2026. The $180 difference is approximately 15% of the former price. The listing does not establish that a new unit is discounted, nor does it guarantee that refurbished inventory remains available.

Should you choose the 13-inch or 15-inch M4 Air?
The central trade-off is workspace versus compactness. Both sizes belong to the M4 MacBook Air generation, but the supplied official specifications establish the 15-inch display dimensions and do not provide a direct price or weight comparison here.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is 16GB of memory and 256GB of storage enough?
Memory: 16GB for everyday use
The base 16GB unified-memory configuration is a reasonable starting point for browsing, office documents, video calls and typical multitasking. Consider 24GB or 32GB if your routine includes demanding creative applications, large projects, virtual machines or keeping many memory-heavy tasks open together. Memory is not a user-upgradeable component, so choose for the workload you expect to keep using the laptop for.
Storage: 256GB for modest local libraries
A 256GB SSD can work if most files are documents and you rely on cloud storage or external drives for larger media collections. It can feel restrictive if you keep large photo or video libraries, games, or project files on the laptop. Apple lists options up to 2TB; choose a larger SSD up front if you want those files locally without frequent cleanup.
Is Apple Certified Refurbished worth considering?
The documented $1,019 price is for a refurbished listing, so compare it with the current price of a new unit at the same memory and storage configuration. The listing establishes a price comparison, but the information here does not specify the particular unit’s condition, warranty terms, accessories or remaining inventory. Read Apple’s live listing carefully for those details before checkout, and do not treat the former $1,199 price as the current new-unit price.

Do you need the 70W USB-C adapter?
No. A 70W USB-C adapter is optional if faster charging is important to you. Apple lists a 35W dual USB-C power adapter with the configuration shown in its specifications. Choose based on how quickly you need to recharge and whether charging two devices from one adapter is useful; the 70W option is not a requirement for ordinary use.
Who should buy this MacBook Air?
The 15-inch M4 Air makes the most sense for someone who values a larger built-in display, wants a lightweight general-purpose Mac, and is comfortable with the selected memory and storage configuration. The refurbished price can be compelling if Apple still offers the matching configuration and its current listing terms meet your needs. If you need more local storage, routinely run memory-intensive workflows, or want a new unit specifically, compare configurations and live prices before choosing.
