No—Stake.us’s current rules exclude New Jersey residents. Its Help Center lists New Jersey as a restricted state, and its Terms say residents of excluded territories may not access the platform, create an account, or play. That is Stake.us’s eligibility policy; it is not, by itself, a New Jersey court ruling about the platform.
Can you use Stake.us in New Jersey?
No. Stake.us’s Help Center says it is “currently unable to accommodate players from” states on its restricted list, which includes New Jersey. The page is dated July 10, 2026. Stake.us’s Terms also list New Jersey as an excluded territory and say residents there are not eligible to access or use the platform, register, or play. Stake.us restricted states · Stake.us Terms and Conditions
In practical terms, New Jersey residents should not create or use a Stake.us account. The restriction is the platform’s own access rule, not proof that a New Jersey court or regulator has issued a specific ruling against Stake.us.
What does New Jersey law say about sweepstakes casinos?
New Jersey enacted P.L. 2025, chapter 128, approved August 15, 2025, with immediate effect. It defines a sweepstakes broadly to include promotional events, contests, or games awarding something of value—including a prize equivalent—directly or indirectly, including through a dual-currency payment system. The law’s definition of prize or prize equivalent includes cash, cash equivalents, merchandise, redeemable tokens or virtual facsimiles, and credits that contemplate transfer of value. The statute says that, unless an exception or other state authorization applies, offering or conducting a sweepstakes in which a person present in New Jersey may pay or offer something of value for a chance to win a prize or prize equivalent constitutes unlawful gambling. Its text states: “offering or conducting a sweepstakes in which a person present in New Jersey may participate by paying or proffering something of value, including, but not limited to, an entry fee for the opportunity to win or receive a prize or prize equivalent, shall constitute unlawful gambling”. This is statutory language from the New Jersey Legislature, not a specific finding about Stake.us.
Exceptions and conditions matter
The law describes conditions for lawful sweepstakes, including a free method of entry, limits on paid entries being ancillary to qualifying merchandise purchases, disclosures about rules, odds, and prizes, and equal odds for paid and free entries. The statute excludes specified coins, tokens, or online credits from the qualifying-merchandise provision. Whether a particular promotion satisfies an exception depends on its details; the presence of any one condition alone does not establish that it qualifies.

Statutory penalties are not a Stake.us enforcement finding
Chapter 128 provides for maximum civil penalties of $100,000 for a first offense and $250,000 for a second and each later offense; each day a violation continues is treated as a separate offense. These are penalties stated in the statute, not evidence that a court or regulator has imposed a penalty on Stake.us. New Jersey P.L. 2025, chapter 128
How Stake.us describes its games—and why that does not change eligibility
Stake.us calls itself a social casino and says its platform and games do not offer real-money gambling. Its terms also say no purchase or payment is necessary to participate. Those are the operator’s descriptions and representations, not a New Jersey regulator’s determination that the service is lawful or available in the state. The same terms exclude New Jersey residents.

No. Senate Bill 1500 is a proposal in the 2026 legislative session concerning online sweepstakes casinos and a licensing and oversight framework. Its official page labels it “Introduced Pending Technical Review.” It is not evidence that the proposal has taken effect or that Stake.us holds a New Jersey license. New Jersey Senate Bill 1500

What should New Jersey residents do?
- Follow Stake.us’s published restriction and do not register or play from New Jersey.
- Do not treat the platform’s “social casino” or no-real-money descriptions as permission to use it in an excluded state.
- If considering another online gambling service, check its current New Jersey licensing and its own state-eligibility terms through official sources.
