Yes: the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 led the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 in the reported head-to-head benchmarks. In Beebom’s tests, it scored about 13% higher in AnTuTu V11, 9% higher in Geekbench 6 single-core, and 7% higher in multi-core. Those results came from different phones, however, so they show how those devices performed—not a guaranteed advantage in every phone.
What is the difference between Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 and Gen 5?
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 is the newer platform. Qualcomm announced Gen 4 on February 12, 2025, and Gen 5 on May 7, 2026. Qualcomm said commercial devices with Gen 5 were expected in the second half of 2026, so availability depends on the phone and market. Qualcomm’s Gen 5 announcement provides the launch timing; its Gen 4 announcement dates the earlier platform.
The official materials available here do not provide a complete, matched specification table for both chips. Qualcomm’s Gen 4 product page lists a 2.3 GHz CPU and a 4 nm process. Gen 4 product specifications therefore offer some concrete details, but not enough to infer a full Gen 4-versus-Gen 5 spec comparison.
Qualcomm’s performance claims use different baselines
Qualcomm said Gen 4 improved CPU performance by 11%, delivered up to 29% better GPU performance, and used 12% less power compared with its prior generation. For Gen 5, Qualcomm advertises up to 21% better GPU performance, 20% faster app launches, and 18% less screen stutter, also comparing it with the previous generation. These are manufacturer claims against each chip’s own predecessor—not direct measurements of Gen 5 versus Gen 4.

How do the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 and Gen 5 benchmarks compare?
Beebom tested the Gen 5 in an Honor X80 Pro Max and the Gen 4 in an Oppo K13 5G. Its reported results favor Gen 5 in the tests below. The percentages are approximate comparisons calculated from those reported scores.
| Test | Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 | Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 | Gen 5 lead in this comparison |
|---|---|---|---|
| AnTuTu V11 | 894,500 | 1,010,104 | About 13% higher |
| Geekbench 6 single-core | 994 | 1,083 | About 9% higher |
| Geekbench 6 multi-core | 3,082 | 3,287 | About 7% higher |
| 3DMark Wild Life Extreme: best loop | 968 | 1,214 | Higher in this run |
| 3DMark Wild Life Extreme: stability | 99.6% | 99.7% | Slightly higher in this run |
These are outlet measurements on specific handsets, not official scores or universal chip ratings. Beebom also reports results from CPU throttling and Speedometer tests, with Gen 5 ahead in its comparison. Its CPU throttling test ran for 15 minutes. Because the phones differ, scores can reflect device design as well as the processor. The article notes that the Honor X80 Pro Max has a thicker chassis than the Oppo K13 5G, which may have helped its thermal endurance. Beebom’s test and methodology identify the handsets and reported results.

Which Snapdragon 6 chip is better for gaming?
The reported 3DMark Wild Life Extreme scores favor Gen 5: its best loop was 1,214 versus 968 for Gen 4. That makes Gen 5 the stronger result in this particular graphics test, but it does not establish how every Gen 5 phone will perform in a game. Cooling, sustained power limits, display resolution, and the phone maker’s tuning all affect real gameplay. The nearly identical stability percentages in this run also do not guarantee the same sustained performance across devices.
Qualcomm’s claim of up to 21% better GPU performance for Gen 5 is against the previous generation, not a direct Gen 4 comparison. Use the independent handset test as evidence of those devices’ results and the manufacturer figure as a separate generational claim.

What do benchmark scores tell you about everyday use?
The reported CPU scores suggest a modest lead for Gen 5 in both single-core and multi-core workloads, while its AnTuTu and 3DMark results were also higher in Beebom’s comparison. That is useful directionally, but benchmarks do not directly measure every everyday task or predict battery life. A database listing such as Notebookcheck’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor page aggregates results from named devices, including the Honor X80 Pro Max and Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G; device-level runs should not be mistaken for a single canonical chip score.
Which phone should you choose?
Choose between the actual phones, not just their processor names. A faster benchmark result may matter for demanding games or workloads, but it cannot settle whether one handset is a better purchase. Check the model available in your country and compare:
- Price and local availability
- Display quality and resolution
- Battery capacity and charging
- Camera hardware and features
- Memory and storage configuration
- Software-update and security-support terms
- Cooling design and performance in sustained use
The available comparison does not establish current regional prices, stock, warranty terms, or software-support periods. Confirm those details for the exact phone variant before buying.
