The reported win was procedural: the Kentucky Court of Appeals dissolved a temporary injunction that had protected a group of fifth-year athletes, including Clark. An injunction is a court order providing interim relief while a case proceeds; dissolving one removes that particular protection. The report does not establish a final decision on the underlying merits for every athlete, nor does it say that every court order in Clark’s separate litigation ended.

So “NCAA wins in court” is shorthand for a change to one temporary injunction, not proof that the NCAA has secured a final ruling against Clark in all proceedings.
How Clark’s California case differs from the Kentucky ruling
Clark played for Illinois, Louisville and UCLA. After his fourth college season, he sought another year and joined a California lawsuit with UCLA teammate Donovan Dent and other athletes. In late July 2026, Colorado federal Judge Charlotte Sweeney issued a preliminary injunction for athletes from the 2022 recruiting class. Louisiana litigation in September concerned other eligibility disputes, including former football professionals and a separate state injunction. It is background to the wider college-athlete eligibility turmoil, not the proceeding that establishes Clark’s basketball status. What could change Clark’s status next?
The current picture is provisional. Further court proceedings could alter the scope or duration of an injunction; an appeal or stay could change which order controls; and the NCAA or LSU could issue a direct eligibility update. The reports available as of October 3 do not establish a final merits ruling or an official LSU or NCAA confirmation resolving the conflict between the Kentucky development and the California order. Anyone checking before a game should look for a newer court order or direct team or NCAA announcement rather than relying on the Kentucky headline alone.
