Shockbyte advertises Minecraft server hosting from $2.79 per month, but that headline does not establish the current plan, billing term, or renewal price. It may suit a group looking for a managed server with multiple locations and game-version options; whether it is a good fit depends on the RAM you need, the final checkout total, and the limits of its refund and uptime terms.
What Shockbyte offers for Minecraft
Shockbyte sells hosted Minecraft servers, including Bedrock hosting for players on mobile, console, and PC. Its Bedrock page lists behavior-pack and add-on support, full/release-version support, and DDoS protection. The provider also advertises instant setup, 24/7 support, and server locations across several regions. These are provider descriptions, not independently verified performance results. Shockbyte’s product page and its FAQ are the places to check current product details.
Shockbyte’s FAQ covers topics such as upgrades, transfers, hardware, regions, map uploads, modpacks, server types, and location changes. A topic appearing in the FAQ does not by itself confirm the exact terms or availability for a particular plan, so verify the details relevant to your setup before paying.
How much does Shockbyte cost?
The advertised headline for this review is “from $2.79/mo.” Treat that as a starting-price claim, not a confirmed renewal rate: the available price snapshots do not verify which billing term, promotion, eligibility rules, taxes, or renewal amount apply to that figure. Check the current checkout page for the plan total and recurring charge before ordering.

Other published snapshots differ. MCPrices’ catalog, last updated August 14, 2026, lists the Dirt plan at $3.99 per month for 1 GB of RAM and gives a catalog range of $1.99 to $127.99 across plans with 1–64 GB. TechRadar’s July 14, 2025 review listed Dirt at $4 per month for 1 GB and Titan at $64 per month for 16 GB. These dated figures may reflect different plan lineups, discounts, or capture dates; they are not a current quote. MCPrices’ Shockbyte listing and TechRadar’s review provide those snapshots.
Shockbyte says it offers discounts for quarterly and annual billing. Paying for a longer term can reduce the monthly equivalent while increasing the amount paid upfront. Older TechRadar pricing examples also listed optional dedicated IP at $5 per month and server management at $15 per month; these are historical examples, not current add-on prices. Confirm whether extras are needed and what they cost in the current checkout.

Which plan and how much RAM should you choose?
Choose based on the number of players, server software, and workload rather than the smallest headline price. RAM and player capacity are plan variables; a modded setup may have different needs from a small, lightly modified world. The available independent plan figures are dated: TechRadar’s 2025 review described Dirt as 1 GB RAM with 8 player slots, and Titan as 16 GB with unlimited slots and 300 recommended. Verify current plan specifications and any player guidance on Shockbyte’s site before choosing.
- For a small group using a simple server, compare the lowest plan’s RAM and player guidance against your expected activity.
- For mods, plugins, or a larger group, confirm that the selected tier supports your server software and workload; do not assume a plan’s player-slot label guarantees smooth performance.
- Check whether storage, backups, management, or other features are included or cost extra. Older third-party descriptions mention unlimited disk space and bandwidth, but current inclusions should be confirmed for the specific plan.
Locations and setup
Pick a server region close to most players to help limit network distance, then check that the location is selectable for the exact product and plan. Shockbyte’s status page lists locations across North America, Europe, Oceania, Asia, and South America, including the United States and Canada, the UK and continental Europe, Australia, India, Singapore, Japan, and Brazil. Availability can change, and a status-page location list does not guarantee every location is offered for every plan. Shockbyte’s status page is a live listing, not a historical uptime record.
Rank #3
TechRadar’s 2025 reviewer described setup as speedy and noted control-panel options for server type, console, configuration files, mods or plugins, FTP access, and advanced settings. That is a dated reviewer observation, not a current hands-on assessment; Shockbyte’s FAQ now references a newly launched control panel. Check the current panel workflow and instructions, especially if you plan to upload a map or configure mods.
Is Shockbyte reliable? What the uptime terms mean
Shockbyte advertises 99.9% uptime. Its separate service-level agreement sets a 99.95% monthly threshold for possible service credits when qualifying downtime is within Shockbyte’s control. Those percentages serve different purposes: the marketing figure is a provider claim, while the SLA figure is a contractual eligibility threshold. Neither is independent evidence of actual uptime.
Rank #4
The SLA excludes several situations, including scheduled maintenance of up to four hours per cluster per month, emergency maintenance, certain upstream maintenance, force majeure events, customer software or configuration issues, and DDoS-related downtime. A customer seeking a credit must submit a written claim within seven days. Credits range from 10% to 50% according to qualifying uptime bands, apply to future invoices rather than being paid in cash, and rely on Shockbyte’s monitoring records. The SLA does not specify recovery-time or recovery-point objectives. Read the service-level agreement for the full conditions.
No independent uptime, server-speed, or support-resolution study is established by the sources reviewed here. That means buyers should treat uptime and support claims as provider statements, not as a prediction of their own experience.

Support and refund policy
Shockbyte advertises 24/7 support and says its team can help with issues such as mod installation or a crashing server. Its product page includes selected testimonials, including both positive comments and a mention of occasional slow support. These testimonials date from 2023–2024 and are not a representative survey; the available information does not establish typical first-response or resolution times.
The product page advertises a 72-hour self-serve refund. TechRadar also reported a 72-hour policy in 2025, but the available material does not establish all current eligibility rules. Before ordering, read the current terms to confirm when the window starts, what cases are excluded, and how to submit a request. A stated refund window should not be taken as an unconditional guarantee. Check Shockbyte’s current product and terms information before purchase.
How to decide whether Shockbyte fits your server
Compare the specific plan against your needs and total cost, not just the advertised monthly starting point. Before checkout, verify:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- the recurring price after any discount and the total charged for the chosen billing period;
- RAM and realistic player guidance for your server software, mods, or plugins;
- whether your desired Java or Bedrock setup and server type are supported;
- the server region available on your plan and its proximity to your players;
- which storage, backup, migration, management, or other features are included or paid extras;
- how support is contacted and what the refund and SLA rules actually provide.
A budget-conscious group comfortable configuring its own server may want to investigate a lower tier, while a modded or larger server should verify its requirements before selecting a plan. The available material does not support ranking Shockbyte against a named competitor on independently measured performance or value.
