No official confirmation says Rare is making a new Crash Bandicoot game. The Rare claim has been presented as speculation, while a separate 2026 leak alleges that a new Crash project is in development without naming Rare. Neither establishes the next game’s developer, platforms, or release date.
Where did the Rare rumor come from?
Retro Dodo’s October 2, 2026 article, “Rare Are Rumoured To Be Making A New Crash Bandicoot Game”, describes Rare’s involvement as speculation. It does not identify a source or cite an official statement confirming that the studio is developing a Crash game. The article’s premise therefore should not be treated as a development announcement.

What does the separate new-game leak claim?
June 2026 reports by Games.gg summarized a claim from an online leaker known as No Arms and No Legs that a new Crash project had reportedly been scheduled or greenlit. Those reports describe the claim as unverified, and it does not identify Rare as the developer. A reported correct prediction about Spyro is context, not confirmation of this separate Crash claim. Games.gg’s coverage does not establish a reliable release date, studio, or platform lineup.

Has Rare or Activision officially confirmed a new game?
Rare’s official news page, reviewed on October 3, 2026, contained no Crash announcement. That means no announcement was found on that page; it does not prove that an unannounced project cannot exist. Rare’s news page is the relevant place to check for the studio’s own updates.

Activision’s official material reviewed for this topic concerns the released Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, not a new Rare project. In its June 22, 2020 announcement, Activision identified Toys for Bob as the developer and gave October 2, 2020 as the release date. Activision’s announcement is evidence about that 2020 game, not who is making any rumored follow-up.
What is the latest released Crash game established here?
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is the latest released mainline game established by the official materials reviewed. Activision lists it for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC, with purchase through its official site or select retailers. These are details for the existing 2020 release only; they say nothing about the platforms or availability of a possible future game. See Activision’s Crash Bandicoot 4 FAQ for its current product information.
