Yes—Hideo Kojima says PHYSINT will be “quite different” from Metal Gear, while describing it as a spy story built around new ideas and a different kind of spy action. That is a statement of creative intent, not a reveal of specific gameplay mechanics: the reports available so far do not explain exactly how the game will play.
What Kojima has said about PHYSINT
In a statement reported by GamesRadar+ on October 5, 2026, Kojima said: “It’s about spies, but I want plenty of new ideas and a different kind of spy action. It’s quite different.” The remark frames PHYSINT as an espionage game while distinguishing its intended direction from Metal Gear. GamesRadar+ reported Kojima’s comments.

Kojima has expressed an intention to bring new ideas to spy action. The reports do not name the gameplay systems that will make PHYSINT different. They do not establish its stealth mechanics, camera perspective, mission design, setting, or narrative structure. Those details remain unknown, so “different” should be read as Kojima’s creative description rather than a confirmed feature list.
