Passpartout: The Starving Artist may be a good fit for children who enjoy drawing and open-ended play. Nintendo UK rates the Switch version PEGI 3, while Nintendo’s US listing flags an alcohol reference: wine is part of the artist’s comic backstory and expenses. Whether that is suitable depends on your child and your family’s preferences.
What do you do in Passpartout: The Starving Artist?
You play a French artist who paints pictures and tries to sell them to customers. Sales help you progress through the art scene and unlock galleries and more customers. Nintendo presents the game as a “living puppet theater,” while Steam describes the same basic cycle of making and selling art.

United States
Nintendo’s US listing displays the ESRB content descriptor Alcohol Reference. The listing excerpt does not establish an ESRB age-category label, so the descriptor alone should not be treated as an age rating. See Nintendo of America’s product listing.
PEGI and ESRB use different rating systems, so do not treat one region’s label as interchangeable with another’s. ESRB explains the distinction between rating categories and content descriptors in its Ratings Guide. Check the rating and content information shown for the version sold in your region.

Does the game include alcohol?
Yes, alcohol is referenced: wine is part of the struggling artist’s comic premise and expenses in the official Nintendo descriptions. Nintendo’s US storefront labels this content “Alcohol Reference.” The available product descriptions do not detail every scene or say how often the reference appears, so they do not support a more specific claim about its extent.

- Consider the local rating. Use the rating displayed for your region and platform, rather than applying a rating from another country.
- Think about your child’s interests. The central activity is painting and trying to sell artwork; it may appeal to a child who likes creative, open-ended play.
- Decide how you feel about the wine reference. It is part of the premise, and families may differ on whether that matters.
- Check the edition before buying. Nintendo’s US listing describes a digital, one-player Switch game with touch-screen support. It does not establish physical-copy availability, current stock, or pricing.
