It may be worth buying if you want high-stakes cooperative zombie survival and are comfortable with persistent character loss; it is a less certain choice if you want a relaxed solo campaign, proven technical smoothness, or content that is still only planned. No More Room in Hell 2 reached full release on August 11, 2026, after entering Early Access in October 2024. This buying guide draws on the Steam listing and Torn Banner Studios’ dated updates—not hands-on testing.
What No More Room in Hell 2 is like to play
Torn Banner Studios develops and publishes No More Room in Hell 2. Steam describes it as an eight-player online co-op zombie shooter with cross-platform multiplayer and proximity voice chat. In Scenario mode, Responders travel through six maps in the outbreak-struck northeastern United States, complete objectives and extract supplies.
The game’s official description emphasizes scarce ammunition and supplies, vulnerable characters, coordination and a reactive horde. Infection can trigger a race to find treatment, while a dead Responder can rise against allies. A character and its individual progress can be lost permanently, making failure part of the game’s stakes rather than a routine, consequence-free reset. The game also includes mature violence and gore. These are design features; they do not establish how difficult or frightening every player will find it.
Scenario and Survival are distinct modes
Steam’s description focuses on objective-based Scenario missions. Torn Banner’s September 2026 roadmap also identifies Survival as a separate mode. The two should not be treated as interchangeable: the roadmap discusses additional Survival maps, while the store listing outlines Scenario objectives and extraction.
Who is likely to enjoy it—and who may want to wait
- A better fit: Players who want demanding co-op, communication under pressure, resource management and meaningful character progression.
- Think twice: Players seeking a forgiving arcade shooter or a relaxed solo campaign. The available official descriptions center on multiplayer cooperation and consequential failure, not a solo campaign.
- Consider waiting: Buyers who are particularly sensitive to technical problems or who would rather purchase after more planned content is delivered.
This fit assessment is an inference from the game’s published features and developer updates, not a personal review.

Current reviews and launch-era issues
When Steam was accessed on October 4, 2026, its English-language review snapshot was “Mostly Positive”: 72% positive from 9,719 reviews. Recent reviews were “Mixed,” at 69% positive from 1,283 reviews. These ratings can change; check the live Steam page before buying.
In an August 20, 2026 update, Torn Banner acknowledged launch issues and described planned hotfixes, work to reduce character losses caused by disconnects, and controller-support refinements. The studio said subtitles were under investigation; that statement described work being considered, not a delivered feature. Its September roadmap described continued work on map usability and the core experience. These updates show ongoing refinement, but do not prove that every issue has been fixed.
Price, discounts and optional DLC
On June 26, 2026, Torn Banner said the game’s base price would remain $29.99 USD at 1.0, while allowing for lower prices during sales. Regional storefront pricing and promotions can differ. Steam showed a discounted Australian-dollar offer when accessed, ending October 8, 2026; that was a temporary local listing, not a universal price. Check your region’s store page for the current price and checkout total.
Steam also lists paid cosmetic packs as optional digital DLC. The available listing does not establish that they are needed for gameplay.
#1 Best Overall
- HOW TO PLAY: The Dealer draws a Scenario Card and reads it aloud. The other players choose two of their Action Cards and play them, facedown. The Dealer shuffles the Action Cards and picks the one they definitely would not do, saying "HELL NO!" Then, they pick the Action Card they definitely would do, saying "HELL YEAH!"
- SITUATION: While scuba diving, your wound starts bleeding, and sharks begin to circle. What do you do?
- ACTION: Ask for an autograph! Hell No
- ACTION: Use your jetpack to escape! Hell Yeah
- REPEAT PLAY: With 135 Situation Cards and 387 Action Cards you'll never run out of wild predicaments

Online play, cross-play and controller considerations
Steam lists online co-op, cross-platform multiplayer, Easy Anti-Cheat, a third-party EULA and in-game online interaction. The listing information available here does not specify the cross-play platform matrix. If you plan to play with friends on particular consoles or PC storefronts, verify that exact combination against current platform information rather than assuming it is supported.
Torn Banner said in June 2026 that native PC controller support was planned as part of the console launch, with Steam Deck and controller compatibility being addressed. In August, it described further work on controller deadzones and menu navigation. Those dated updates indicate active refinement; they are not a guarantee of current compatibility quality on every device.

Torn Banner’s September 16, 2026 Autumn 2026 roadmap describes intended work for the rest of the year to strengthen the core experience and add endgame goals. It names Responder Retirement, Hell Mode, two new Survival maps, continued map refinement, new weapons and usability improvements.
The same roadmap places the first new Objective mode map in early 2027, with more maps planned, and says Solo Mode is intended to receive a separate progression track. These are developer plans and targets, not confirmation that the features have shipped or a guarantee of their delivery dates. The September roadmap is newer than the studio’s August update, so it is the better reference for forward-looking plans.

So, is it worth buying now?
Buy now if the current price suits your budget and you specifically want high-stakes cooperative zombie survival with voice communication and persistent character progression. Consider waiting for a sale or further updates if you are wary of launch-era technical issues, want a broader established selection of maps, or are mainly interested in roadmap features that have not yet been delivered. Before checkout, verify your local price, PC requirements, current reviews, anti-cheat and EULA details, and compatibility with the platforms your group uses.
Quick Recap
Torn Banner reported on August 20, 2026 that more than 1,000,000 players had played since Early Access, including 500,000 from the 1.0 launch onward on PC and consoles. Those are studio-reported player counts, not sales or unique purchasers; the figure offers context about reach, not a measure of whether the game will suit you.
