No public evidence establishes that Natalie Harp is jealous of Margo Martin. The speculation followed President Donald Trump’s praise of Martin at an Oct. 1, 2026, rally in Durant, Oklahoma, but posts interpreting Harp’s presence as discomfort do not show what she felt. Neither aide had publicly addressed the speculation as of Hindustan Times’ Oct. 3 report.
What prompted the speculation?
At the Durant rally for Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Mazzei, Trump invited 31-year-old communications adviser Margo Martin onto the stage and praised her for close to two minutes. He called her a social-media “sensation” and said she was a “beautiful woman, inside and out.”
The Daily Beast reported Trump saying: “You can never say that a woman is beautiful. If you say a woman is beautiful, that’s the end of your political career. But, I’ll say it anyway: She is a beautiful woman, inside and out.” It also quoted him addressing Martin’s parents: “I see why she’s good-looking, actually. You know, I believe in the racehorse theory. Fast horses, right? Great mom and dad. Thank you very much. Great job, Margo.”

Natalie Harp, described in coverage as Trump’s executive assistant, was also with the presidential entourage at the event. Posts on X juxtaposed her presence with Trump’s praise of Martin, including captions such as “Trump gushes over ‘beautiful’ younger aide onstage as Natalie Harp looks on” and “Will Natalie Harp sink the Trump regime out of envy and jealousy of Margo Martin?” These are users’ interpretations, not evidence of Harp’s reaction or representative measures of public opinion.

Do the reports show that Harp felt jealous or uncomfortable?
No. The reports establish that the speculation circulated, but they do not establish Harp’s emotions or a rivalry between the aides. A person’s presence at an event—and an observer’s interpretation of that person’s demeanor—cannot by itself verify an inner feeling. The reviewed reporting contains no attributable comment from Harp or Martin about jealousy or tension.
The Daily Beast’s description of the moment as humiliating and its podcast participants’ theory that Trump might pit aides against one another are commentary, not independently established facts. The outlet also reported a response from White House Communications Director Steven Cheung to podcast hosts: “Joanna shouldn’t be so jealous, it’s not a good look for her.” That remark was directed at Joanna Coles; it was not a denial or confirmation from Harp or Martin.

What are Harp and Martin’s roles?
Hindustan Times and the Associated Press identify Harp as an executive assistant to Trump and Martin as a communications adviser. A 2025 official presidential transcript note names Martin as White House Communications Adviser and lists Harp among Executive Office aides. That earlier document corroborates their roles at that time, but does not by itself establish their exact current titles.

No. The Associated Press reported on Sept. 9, 2026, that annual financial disclosure forms listed $45,000 in holiday cash gifts each for Harp, Martin, and Chamberlain Harris, and $20,000 for Walt Nauta. The AP said Harp, Martin, and Harris each earned $150,000 annually and Nauta earned $175,000, citing the White House salary disclosure report to Congress.
Rank #3
The AP attributed to an unnamed White House official the explanation that the gifts were unrelated to official duties and permissible under relevant standards. The disclosures concern several aides; they do not show a personal relationship, tension, or competition between Harp and Martin.

How to separate the facts from the online interpretation
- Reported event: Trump praised Martin at the Durant rally, and Harp was present with the entourage.
- Online interpretation: Some X users framed the scene as jealousy or rivalry. Their posts show that speculation appeared, not that it was true or widely held.
- Unestablished: The reporting does not document Harp’s private feelings, a dispute between the aides, or a direct statement from either one about the speculation.
