Yes—Paramount is reportedly developing a live-action family comedy based on the Medieval Times dinner-show chain. The project is in early development, not confirmed as a production, and no release date has been reported.

What is the Medieval Times movie about?

Germain Lussier’s October 8, 2026, report for Gizmodo/io9 describes the project as a fantasy comedy set around the Orlando Medieval Times attraction. According to the report’s description of the official logline, a struggling employee accidentally releases a real ninth-century knight and an ancient necromancer. The employee and the warrior must work together to save the castle, then the world, while the employee seeks the respect he has always wanted.

The setup turns the restaurant’s medieval-themed show into a supernatural adventure. Medieval Times performances feature jousting and staged combat, with audiences divided into color-coded sections that cheer for different sides. The report says the chain first came to North America in 1983.

Who is making the movie?

The report names Blaise Hemingway as the writer and Eric Appel as the director. It describes the project as a live-action family comedy being developed at Paramount; it does not report a cast or identify actors attached to the film.

Is it in production, and when will it come out?

Not according to the available report: the project is in early development. It does not establish that Paramount has greenlit production or that filming has begun, and it gives no release date. The report cites Deadline for the development news, but its linked Deadline page was inaccessible when the story was reported, so further production and distribution details are not confirmed here.

Was there an earlier Medieval Times movie deal?

Yes. The Gizmodo/io9 report says the rights were sold in 2013, but that attempt did not result in a film. It provides no further details about the deal, so the 2013 rights sale should not be confused with the current Paramount development or treated as a previous adaptation.
