Probably—if you want a story-led Batman adventure, enjoy LEGO’s humor and collectibles, or plan to play local co-op. Switch 2 reviews are positive overall, but reviewers disagree about how noticeable the slowdowns are, and one reported a late-game crash. Choose Standard unless you specifically want the Deluxe add-ons; consider waiting if smooth performance matters more to you than the game’s Gotham and Batman content.
What kind of game is it?
It is an open-world action-adventure following Bruce Wayne’s journey from origin to Gotham hero. The story draws on Batman films, television, comics, and games, while adding LEGO humor. Combat uses combos, stealth, gadgets, and character abilities; Gotham traversal includes grappling, gliding, and driving. DC’s official game page describes those core elements.
Warner Bros. Games and Nintendo list seven playable base-game characters, 100 suits, more than 20 vehicles, and more than 250 Batcave props and trophies. These are publisher-provided feature counts, not independently audited totals. Nintendo’s US listing specifies a 23.7 GB download and TV, tabletop, and handheld modes. Nintendo’s US listing also notes HDR output on compatible TVs; that specification does not establish identical image quality across modes.
How does it run on Switch 2?
Reviews available by October 4, 2026 describe an enjoyable, generally playable game, but their reports differ in severity. They are individual review experiences, not a guarantee of how every session or copy will perform.

Sinister Pack includes 7 suits (1 for each of the original playable characters), 1 Batmobile, and 1 Batcave prop set
- Mayhem Collection is a separate post-launch DLC included in the LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Deluxe Edition (full base game required)
- Nintendo Life’s European-version review (8/10; captured docked) praised Gotham, humor, puzzle-platforming, and co-op. It reported occasional frame drops, frequent stutters in busy missions, pop-in, blurry background textures, and one late-game crash while moving quickly between boroughs. The reviewer found texture issues less noticeable in handheld mode.
- Nintendo Everything’s September 28 review describes roughly 20 hours of play, mostly docked. The reviewer noticed three brief slowdown or frame-drop incidents—two around fire effects while docked and one during handheld Batmobile use—and no glitches or errors. The review also says load times may bother some players.
- Miketendo64’s September 24 review notes occasional stutter during high-speed Batmobile driving and heavy particle effects, but says it did not break that reviewer’s immersion.
The evidence supports neither a claim that performance is trouble-free nor a conclusion that the game is unplayable. If you are sensitive to stutter, texture compromises, or occasional frame drops, treat that uncertainty as a real buying consideration. The cited reviews do not establish measured frame rates, resolution, battery life, or how Switch 2 compares with other platforms.
Does it suit solo play and co-op?
You can play solo or with a second person in local co-op on one system. Warner Bros. Games says online co-op is not available and a Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. That makes it a fit for shared play in the same room, not for playing the campaign online with someone elsewhere. The publisher also says the game has no microtransactions requiring real money. Warner Bros. Games’ FAQ covers these features.

- LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
Are the physical LEGO sets required?
No requirement to buy a physical set is established for playing or completing the base game. Warner Bros. Games identifies four LEGO DC Batman sets with in-game unlocks. Its FAQ says some standard vehicles can be earned in-game, while particular gold vehicle variants and a gold Batsuit are exclusive to purchasing named sets. Treat the sets as optional collector purchases, and verify the exact set, availability, and current price before buying.
