Yes—buy during an early holiday sale when the exact product and configuration are at a price you’ve checked against its recent history, and the seller, checkout cost and return terms suit you. A sale label alone is not proof of a bargain. Buying now can help you secure a wanted model; waiting may bring a lower price, but neither outcome is guaranteed for a particular item.

When an early tech sale is worth it

Make the decision product by product. A discount is useful only if it applies to the version you actually want and compares favorably with that item’s recent prices—not just a suggested retail price or a different configuration. Check the final checkout cost and the retailer’s terms before deciding.

  • Buy now if the exact model is at a price you consider attractive, the listing is from a seller you trust, and the delivery and return terms work for you.
  • Consider waiting if the current offer is only a small reduction from the product’s ordinary price, you are flexible about timing or configuration, and you are willing to risk the item selling out or the price not falling.
  • Do not let the event name decide. “Early holiday sale,” “Prime Day” and “Black Friday” describe promotions, not proof that a particular product is at its lowest price.

There is no established probability that an early sale will beat a later holiday price. One limited ShopBack US editorial analysis tracked 12 retailers and roughly 240 price checks across two observation windows—November 15, 2025–January 5, 2026, and June 20–August 1, 2026—and reported that TVs, laptops and consumer electronics tend to see their deepest cuts during Black Friday week and Cyber Monday. That analysis is useful context, not a comprehensive market study or a forecast for any one product. Read ShopBack’s sale calendar.

How to check whether the price is actually good

  1. Match the exact item. Compare the model number, generation, screen size, storage, connectivity and included accessories. A cheaper listing for another configuration is not a like-for-like deal.
  2. Check recent price history. Compare the current price with the same configuration’s recent prices, not only its stated original or list price. Decide what you would have been willing to pay before the sale began.
  3. Calculate the full cost. Include shipping and any required membership. A promotion may be less attractive if access requires a paid subscription or if delivery changes the total.
  4. Inspect the listing. Confirm who sells and fulfills the item, whether it is new or refurbished, and whether it is in stock for delivery when you need it.
  5. Read the return and price-adjustment terms. Check the applicable window, exclusions and whether the retailer will adjust the price if it drops after your purchase. Do not assume a return policy also provides a price adjustment.
  6. Weigh the cost of waiting. If you need the item soon or require a specific configuration, the possibility of losing it may matter more than a potential later discount. If you can wait and are flexible, you can keep watching prices without treating a future reduction as certain.

What 2026 sale dates tell you—and what they don’t

Best Buy’s official 2026 Black Friday page names November 27, 2026, and says its 2025 event is over. The page also notes that tech deals are available throughout the year. These dates identify a sale period, not a guaranteed lowest price for a specific model. See Best Buy’s Black Friday page.

Cyber Monday falls on November 30, 2026, according to TheTechBasket’s editorial sale calendar, which identifies October 5–11 as a major early-sale period. The calendar is guidance rather than official retailer terms, and it says 2026 holiday return and price-match policies were not yet fully published in the guide. See TheTechBasket’s sale calendar.

Some offers do appear in early October. Micro Center’s official FAQ says its Tech Days event ran October 6–7, 2026, with deals on PCs, components, laptops, accessories and more, and did not require membership. Its event price-match terms were narrow: the item had to be an exact match, in stock, sold and shipped by Amazon.com, and available to ship within seven days. Marketplace sellers, Amazon Warehouse, renewed or refurbished goods, coupon-based prices and bundles were excluded. The event has ended, so those terms should not be assumed to apply to other promotions. Read Micro Center’s event FAQ.

Examples of dated offers—not current buying recommendations

Tom’s Guide reported the following prices on October 7, 2026. They illustrate why configuration and date matter; they are not independently verified live offers, and the guide does not establish that they were the products’ lowest historical prices.

Product as listed Price in October 7, 2026 coverage Stated former price
Apple Watch 12 GPS, 42 mm $349 $399
Mac mini M6 $779 $899
13-inch MacBook Air M5 $1,099 $1,299

Before buying one of these—or any other promoted item—check that the listing still exists, matches the named configuration, is available from an acceptable seller and has a total price and return terms you accept. A former price shown in a deal guide is not a substitute for checking the item’s own price history.
