Huawei is reportedly expecting to raise some product prices moderately, but there is no confirmed across-the-board phone price increase. Android Authority reported on October 1, 2026, that Huawei consumer-business chairman Richard Yu made the remarks to Chinese media. The report does not say when any increase would begin, how large it would be, or which models or markets it would affect.
What Huawei has reportedly said about prices
Android Authority’s October 1, 2026 report relays Yu’s comments via Bloomberg. The accessible reporting describes an expectation of moderate price increases; it is not a published Huawei price list or confirmation that new prices are already in effect. The report quotes Yu as saying rising memory and storage costs had been “hurting” Huawei’s “profitability very badly.”
The report says Huawei has been absorbing added costs of about $200. It does not define the accounting basis or unit for that figure, so it should not be read as a per-phone cost, nor as the amount customers will pay. No exact retail increase or effective date is given. Android Authority’s report

The remarks came alongside the Mate 90 series launch, but the report does not establish that every Mate 90 model is receiving a price increase. It mentions a special-edition model priced as high as CNY 18,999 (approximately $2,835, as rendered in the report) and a detachable camera accessory. That top special-edition price is not a price for the full lineup and does not, by itself, demonstrate a general increase.

Why rising component costs matter beyond Huawei
Memory and storage costs are the pressure cited in the Huawei report. Separately, Counterpoint Research’s September 24, 2026 insight forecasts that more than 230 million shipments of smartphones priced below $200 could be lost by 2030; Android Authority characterizes the projected reduction as roughly 40%. This is a forecast about shipment volume, not a measured loss or proof that budget phones will disappear. The accessible Counterpoint page identifies the forecast, publisher and author, Yang Wang, but does not provide the underlying assumptions or detailed methodology. Counterpoint Research’s forecast
