HostGator Business shared hosting may suit a modest website that values phone and chat support and the plan’s shared-hosting tools, but it is not an automatic choice for every small business. The promotional price applies only to the initial term, the current dollar amounts were not visible on HostGator’s pricing page when checked on October 7, 2026, and the page describes backups as a courtesy without specifying a schedule or restoration commitment. Compare the renewal total and service terms before buying.

What HostGator Business includes

HostGator lists Hatchling, Baby, and Business as shared-hosting plans. Its comparison page identifies phone and chat support, courtesy website backups, and 24/7/365 hosting-server monitoring among the shared-plan features, including Business. It also lists email account features and tools such as MySQL/phpMyAdmin, PHP, SSH access, cron scheduling, and one-click installs. These are features in the shared-plan comparison; the page does not establish that every item is exclusive to Business. See HostGator’s shared-hosting plans and feature comparison.

Backups need a closer look

“Courtesy website backups” does not specify how often backups are made, how long they are retained, or whether a restore is guaranteed or included. Ask HostGator to clarify those terms for the plan and market you are considering, and keep an independent backup rather than relying on an unspecified courtesy service.

How much does HostGator Business cost after the introductory offer?

HostGator says promotions apply to the initial term and promotional hosting renews at the regular rate shown in the customer’s control panel. Its pricing page describes the offer as a discount on the first invoice only. The dollar amounts in the page captured on October 7, 2026, were masked, so there is no verified current price to quote here. Advertised prices exclude VAT where applicable. Check HostGator’s current pricing and terms for your region before checkout.

Before committing, review the exact term, total amount due up front, renewal amount, applicable taxes, and any optional add-ons. An August 16, 2026 iTechGuides snapshot reported advertised starting prices of $5.95 per month for Business, alongside $2.75 for Hatchling and $3.95 for Baby. Those figures are historical secondary-source listings, not verified October checkout prices, and should not be treated as current offers. Read the dated iTechGuides pricing and plan review.

What do the uptime tests show?

Two independent reviews reported different uptime results from tests with different sites, periods, and monitoring methods. Neither figure guarantees what your own website will experience.

Publisher and test Reported result How to interpret it
Hostingstep, October 1, 2025–May 31, 2026 99.97% measured uptime; 81 minutes of downtime across seven outages, based on 349,920 checks at 60-second intervals over 243 days A relatively long monitoring window, but still a publisher’s test rather than a promise for an individual customer
TechRadar, 14-day test 99.63% measured uptime A shorter test of a standard WordPress site, checked by Uptime.com every five minutes

The results are not necessarily contradictory: the test windows, sites, and sampling intervals differ. Hostingstep also reports slower load handling than a competing plan in its comparison and slower response in Asia-Pacific than in the Americas. Those findings describe Hostingstep’s tests, not a prediction for every location or workload. See Hostingstep’s HostGator testing and comparison; see TechRadar’s review and 14-day test.

Keep the uptime commitment separate from test results

TechRadar describes a 99.9% uptime guarantee for HostGator shared and reseller servers. It says a customer may be eligible for a one-month fee credit if uptime falls short, while noting that the remedy is discretionary rather than a clearly automatic credit schedule. A service commitment is not the same as an observed test result; read the current contractual terms to understand eligibility and remedies.

How to decide whether the plan fits your site

Evaluate the plan against the demands of your own site rather than relying on a single review score or uptime figure. In particular, compare:

  • Total cost: Match the billing term and region, then compare the initial invoice with the renewal total, taxes, and add-ons.
  • Support: The plan comparison lists phone and chat support. TechRadar’s review describes its support experience as broadly positive but reports a 19-minute wait in one live-chat interaction; that is a single publisher-reported experience, not a response-time guarantee.
  • Backup and restoration: Confirm the backup schedule, retention, and restore terms instead of assuming “courtesy” means a particular service level.
  • Performance where your visitors are: Consider the visitors’ geography and expected traffic. Test results from other regions or workloads may not represent your site.
  • What is included: Check whether the email, security, and backup services you need are included or separately charged.

For a decision, compare providers’ current terms and tests directly without treating any single measurement as conclusive.

Who should choose HostGator Business?

A plausible fit

Consider it if you run a modest website, want shared hosting with the listed support channels and tools, and are comfortable proceeding only after verifying the renewal amount and backup coverage. The plan’s published feature set may be sufficient for a straightforward site, but the available evidence does not establish it as the best host for every business.

When to look elsewhere or move up a tier

Compare other providers or a more capable hosting tier if your site depends on predictable performance during high-traffic periods, requires explicit backup and restore guarantees, or serves visitors far from regions where the published tests performed well. The available tests do not establish that HostGator will meet a particular business-critical workload.
