No general free-download offer is established today. Rockstar’s free-to-download-and-keep offer was for PS5 players during the first three months after GTA Online launched on the new console generation in March 2022. What was the free GTA Online offer?
Rockstar said PS5 players could download and keep GTA Online for free during the first three months after its March 2022 launch on the new console generation. How to get GTA Online on your platform
Use the official listing for your platform and confirm its current price, edition, and availability before buying. The listings below describe different products; the Xbox details should not be assumed to apply to PlayStation or PC.

What to check before downloading
- Open your platform’s official storefront. Search for GTA Online or GTA V and confirm the listing is for your console generation or PC.
- Read the edition details. Determine whether you are buying standalone GTA Online or GTA V with GTA Online, and whether Story Mode is included or offered as an upgrade.
- Review the current price and requirements. Promotions, membership benefits, prices, and online-play requirements can change. What standalone GTA Online does not include
Rockstar Support says standalone GTA Online owners must purchase Story Mode to access Rockstar Editor and Director Modes. This limitation concerns those two modes; it should not be read as a claim that every other feature requires Story Mode. Rockstar Support
