There is no confirmed evidence that Google is disabling Find Hub across Googlebooks, and Google has not publicly explained the issue reported by one user. That user says Find Hub was off with no way to turn it on and could not locate their Googlebook. Official Find Hub guidance describes support for Android devices and accessories, but does not confirm that the laptop itself can be tracked.
What the report says—and what it does not prove
A Googlebook community user reported that Find Hub appeared turned off in settings with no option to enable it. They also said they could add the Googlebook in the Find Hub app but could not locate it. This is an individual report: it does not establish that the same behavior affects other devices, that Google has made a deliberate policy change, or what caused the setting to appear unavailable. No official explanation or fix for this report has been identified.
Does Find Hub officially support finding a Googlebook?
Google’s Android Help page says Find My Device is now Find Hub and describes locating, securing, or erasing Android devices and Wear OS watches. It does not describe locating Googlebook laptops. Google’s Find Hub help
The Find Hub app listing on Google Play names phones, tablets, headphones, and other accessories, including offline finding. It also describes playing a sound and remotely securing or erasing a lost device. It does not explicitly list Googlebooks. That omission does not prove laptop tracking is impossible; it means the reviewed public materials do not confirm it.

Keep the distinction clear: tracking an accessory or Android device associated with a laptop is not the same as locating the laptop itself. Google’s general support for accessories does not establish that any particular tag works with a Googlebook or can help find the laptop.
Why Android features on Googlebooks do not settle the question
Google describes Googlebooks as a new laptop line running Googlebook OS, which brings together ChromeOS and the Android technology stack. Its September 23, 2026 support article says the initial rollout is for consumers and that many newer Chromebook devices may be eligible to transition to Googlebook OS; existing ChromeOS devices continue receiving updates under Google’s Auto Update policy. Google’s Googlebook FAQ also describes access to Android apps from Google Play and workflows that connect a phone with a laptop. Those features show Android integration, but they do not confirm that Find Hub can locate the Googlebook itself. The product’s Android-related capabilities and the supported device types listed for Find Hub are separate questions.
Has Google explained why the setting is unavailable?
Not in the official materials cited here. They do not establish whether the reported behavior is a software issue, a device or account configuration, an unsupported feature, or something else. Treat any single-cause explanation—or claim that a specific update will fix it—as unverified unless Google confirms it for the relevant model and software version.

What Googlebook owners can check
- Identify what you are trying to track. Confirm whether the target is the laptop itself or a separate phone, headphone, or locator accessory.
- Check current support for the exact device. Google’s published Find Hub pages describe Android devices, Wear OS watches, and accessories; they do not currently confirm laptop location for Googlebooks.
- Ask Google support about the specific model and setting. Include the Googlebook model, software version, and the exact message or missing control. An individual community report is not a general diagnosis.
- Do not treat buying a Googlebook or an accessory as a fix. The available documentation does not show that either purchase enables Find Hub tracking of the laptop itself.
