GoGoGrandparent can be a useful way to arrange a rideshare by phone, but it does not make the ride risk-free or provide a trained caregiver. It adds operator coordination, ride monitoring and, where arranged, updates for loved ones to transportation supplied by third-party networks. It may suit someone who can get into and out of a standard vehicle without hands-on help; riders who need transfers, medical supervision or guaranteed door-through-door assistance should look at specialized transport.
How GoGoGrandparent works
A member can call GoGoGrandparent to request a ride without using a smartphone app. GoGo coordinates transportation through third-party services such as Uber and Lyft, while its operators help manage the request. Family members or caregivers may also arrange services, and GoGo says loved ones can receive ride updates. The vehicle and driver come from the transportation network, not from GoGoGrandparent itself. GoGoGrandparent’s FAQ and how-it-works page describe the service.
That distinction is central to assessing safety: GoGo adds a human, phone-based coordination layer and charges for the service, but the driver is not thereby a GoGo employee or trained attendant. The company also describes coordinating groceries, meals, prescriptions and home services. Its current how-it-works page lists wheelchair-accessible Uber WAV arrangements, subject to local coverage and the specific request.

What safety measures does GoGo describe?
GoGo says its operators communicate with and monitor rides, can screen requests, and can share updates with loved ones. Its FAQ says drivers are licensed and authorized through the relevant transportation network. A GoGo webinar deck hosted by the New York State Office for the Aging and dated February 20, 2025, describes GoGoGuardian as offering real-time ride monitoring and lists a 4.7 driver-rating threshold and background checks every six months. It names partner options including Uber, Lyft, local taxis and wheelchair-accessible vehicles. These are company-presented service details in a state-hosted presentation, not an independent audit or proof of a particular safety outcome. View the February 20, 2025 presentation.

GoGo’s FAQ describes partner insurance of $1 million in liability coverage per incident and $1 million in uninsured or underinsured motorist bodily-injury coverage per incident. Those figures are the company’s description of partner coverage; applicable policies and terms may vary by state and situation. Check the policy that applies to the specific ride rather than treating these amounts as a universal guarantee.
The available sources do not establish a GoGo-specific incident rate, a controlled comparison with directly booked Uber or Lyft rides, or an independent safety audit. That means there is no basis here to conclude that GoGo is safer than booking directly. Monitoring and screening are useful features to evaluate, but they do not eliminate ordinary transportation risks.
Who are the drivers, and what help do they provide?
Drivers are supplied through transportation networks or other listed local partners; GoGo says it does not employ them directly. In its article about safety, the company notes that experiences with independent providers can vary and that drivers are not trained to provide medical or hands-on assistance.
A 2019 NORC/ITNAmerica environmental scan describes the rideshare trips it discusses as curb-to-curb, rather than door-to-door or door-through-door. Do not assume a driver will escort a passenger into a building, lift them, manage a transfer or provide medical care. Confirm exactly what assistance a specific provider offers before booking.

Are walkers and wheelchairs okay?
GoGo’s FAQ says riders may bring walkers and foldable wheelchairs when they can transfer into the vehicle without assistance. Operators can add notes for drivers, but a note does not guarantee that a driver can or will help with a transfer. GoGo recommends tipping when a driver is asked to lift an item; that does not change the service’s stated limit on hands-on assistance.
GoGo says it can arrange wheelchair-accessible Uber WAV rides in some locations. Before relying on one, confirm that an accessible vehicle is available at the rider’s pickup location and time, that it can accommodate the rider’s specific equipment, and that its assistance level meets the rider’s needs. Anyone who needs help transferring, door-through-door support, medical supervision or a guaranteed accessible vehicle should compare specialized accessible transportation or non-emergency medical transportation.
What does GoGoGrandparent cost?
GoGo’s FAQ lists a ride coordination fee of $0.27 per minute in addition to the transportation provider’s fare. Its company article lists the Value membership at $29.99 per month or $245.88 per year. The fare may vary with location and demand, and plan terms and prices can change. Ask GoGo for a current quote and how the total for a particular trip is calculated before enrolling.
GoGo says customers are charged after a ride for both the coordination fee and the underlying transportation fare, with charges itemized in a call or email. Its FAQ says charges are generally final and non-refundable unless GoGo determines otherwise. Check the current membership, cancellation and refund terms, as well as whether caregiver notifications and the mobility support you need are included.

Is GoGoCare the same as ride safety support?
No. GoGoCare is a separate phone-based advocacy and navigation service described in a July 7, 2025 company announcement. Its listed support includes wellness check-ins, care navigation, hospital follow-up, prescription support, insurance navigation and access to local resources. GoGo explicitly says the service is not a replacement for medical providers. The announcement lists an add-on price of $15.99 per month or $99 per year and says it is included in some memberships; verify current pricing and eligibility directly. How to decide whether it fits a rider
GoGo may be worth considering when the rider can safely use a standard rideshare vehicle but benefits from ordering by phone, operator communication or trip visibility for family. Compare it with direct rideshare booking or specialized transport against the needs that matter for the actual trip:
- Booking support: Would phone ordering and live operator assistance make arranging a ride easier?
- Trip visibility: What updates can a caregiver receive, and how will they be delivered?
- Mobility help: Can the rider get into and out of the vehicle without a hands-on transfer?
- Vehicle access: Is an appropriate accessible vehicle available locally for this trip?
- Total cost: What are the membership charge, transportation fare and coordination fee together?
- Type of support: Does the rider need medical supervision, door-through-door service or a guaranteed accessible vehicle?
The 2019 scan reported a mean GoGoGrandparent customer age of 82 at that time; it is historical context, not a current measure of the customer base. It also discussed additional assistance products available at the time, which should not be assumed to reflect current features or fees.
