For current status, check Freedom Mobile’s network service status page, which also lets customers report an incident. Until a current notice confirms one, outage scope, cause and restoration time are unknown.
Is Freedom Mobile down in Ontario or Quebec?
A specific outage affecting customers in both provinces is not confirmed by the available dated sources. Freedom’s live network status page is the primary source for service notices and incident reporting. Check it for your location rather than relying on broad outage claims.
Downdetector’s Quebec status page showed “no current problems” while also displaying individual connectivity reports. Those reports are anecdotal: they may help flag a possible issue, but they do not establish an outage or show how widely it affects customers.

Is there a Freedom Mobile outage near me?
- Open Freedom Mobile’s network service status page and check for a notice relevant to your area.
- If you are experiencing a problem and no notice appears, use the page’s incident reporting option.
- Check whether the issue affects calls, text messages, mobile data, or all three. This can help distinguish a partial service problem from a phone or settings issue.
Freedom notes that maintenance, weather and local conditions can affect service. Its coverage map is approximate, and coverage can vary with terrain, foliage, technical capacity and weather. The company says it cannot guarantee service availability.

Why does my phone say “No Service” or “SOS”?
A “No Service” or “SOS” message does not by itself confirm a carrier-wide outage. If Freedom has not identified a local incident, try its recommended first steps:
- Restart your phone.
- Turn Airplane mode on, wait briefly, then turn it off to prompt the phone to reconnect.
If the problem continues, Freedom’s network troubleshooting guide also covers network selection and resetting mobile network settings. If you manually select the Freedom network while troubleshooting, restore automatic network selection afterward.

Check for a coverage or building issue
Freedom says basements, high-rise buildings and large industrial buildings can make reception difficult. Try moving to another location, if practical, and check the status page again. A weak or absent signal in one building does not establish that service is down across a city or province.
Consider the 3G phase-out in Quebec and Ottawa-Gatineau
For customers in Quebec or the Ottawa-Gatineau region, an older device may be affected by Freedom’s 3G phase-out, which the company says began in those areas on July 31, 2025. Freedom says VoLTE and VoLTE roaming are needed to maintain service in impacted areas and recommends checking device compatibility. A compatibility problem is different from a newly confirmed network outage.

What can I do if Freedom Mobile calls are down?
If calls are unavailable, messaging or Wi-Fi calling may be alternatives when those services and a working Wi-Fi connection remain available. Freedom says Wi-Fi calling is available on select iPhone and Android devices; availability depends on device support and connectivity, so it is not guaranteed to work in every outage.
If both voice-over-Wi-Fi and mobile data are unavailable, Freedom advises contacting support from a device with a hard-wired internet connection. A charged phone can help you try messaging or Wi-Fi calling where available, but it cannot restore mobile network service.
