For a new PC buyer who wants both the main story and its expansion, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is the simplest choice: it includes the base game and Phantom Liberty. If you want to spend less up front or are unsure about the expansion, start with the base game and compare the expansion price later. Which option is better value depends on current prices in your region and the store you choose.
What kind of game is Cyberpunk 2077?

What does Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition include?
Ultimate Edition bundles the base game with Phantom Liberty, the story expansion set in Dogtown. The publisher’s December 5, 2023 announcement also described the edition as including Update 2.0. The publisher separately said Update 2.1 was released free to PC and current-generation console owners; it is a base-game update, not a separately purchased story expansion. Is Phantom Liberty included, and can you buy it separately?
Phantom Liberty is included in Ultimate Edition, but it is also offered separately in some storefronts. As an expansion, it requires the base game. Its story is a spy thriller centered on Dogtown and a mission involving the NUS President; it adds quests, skill-tree options, weapons, and cyberware. In a September 13, 2026 announcement, CD PROJEKT RED said the game and expansion would launch on Battle.net later that year, with options to buy the base game and expansion separately or choose Ultimate Edition. Which purchase should you choose?

Before choosing a bundle, compare its current regional price with the combined price of the base game and expansion at the storefront you intend to use. Prices, discounts, availability, and offer end dates can change, so a displayed deal is not a universal or lasting measure of value.

What should PC buyers know about stores and boxed copies?
Store choice can affect redemption and offline use. GOG’s Ultimate Edition listing advertises DRM-free offline play and a fully offline installer; that is a GOG-specific listing, not a promise about Steam or every retailer. GOG’s Ultimate Edition listing

A PC boxed edition is a code-in-box product, not a disc set. CD PROJEKT RED’s support instructions direct buyers to redeem the code through GOG GALAXY before downloading and installing. GOG Support says retail game codes redeem exclusively through a GOG account, so do not assume a boxed code is a Steam key. Will your PC run Cyberpunk 2077?
Check the current official system-requirements page against your exact CPU, graphics card, memory, and storage, and consider the settings and performance target you want. The available page content does not establish those hardware thresholds here, so no particular PC configuration can be promised to run well on this basis. It is a sensible buy if you want a single-player RPG set in Night City and your PC meets the current requirements. Choose Ultimate Edition when you want the base game and Phantom Liberty and its regional bundle price compares favorably with buying them separately. Choose the base game if you want to cap the initial cost or are undecided about the expansion. Check the specific store’s price, availability, redemption rules, and offline policy before checkout.
