China Construction Bank Corporation’s official shareholder information identifies its Hong Kong-listed H-shares as ticker 939 and its Shanghai-listed A-shares as ticker 601939. The reviewed parent-company materials do not identify an ADR for China Construction Bank Corporation. Does China Construction Bank Corporation have an ADR?
The available issuer materials do not establish an ADR for China Construction Bank Corporation (CCB). Its General Shareholder Information identifies the parent bank’s H-shares as listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under ticker 939 and its A-shares as listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange under ticker 601939.

How the parent bank’s shares and the SUHJY ADR differ
| Security | Issuer | Type and venue | Ticker or symbol |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hong Kong shares | China Construction Bank Corporation | H-shares listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange | 939 |
| Shanghai shares | China Construction Bank Corporation | A-shares listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange | 601939 |
| U.S.-traded ADR | China Construction Bank (Asia) Corporation Limited | ADRs traded over the counter in the United States; the issuer’s report also says its shares are listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange | SUHJY |
An H-share is a share of China Construction Bank Corporation listed in Hong Kong. An ADR is a depositary receipt associated with a particular issuer and underlying-share arrangement. Since the SUHJY disclosure names the Asia company, it should not be treated as a U.S. trading substitute for the parent bank’s 939 H-shares.

What to check before placing an order
- Check the legal issuer. Confirm whether the security details name China Construction Bank Corporation or China Construction Bank (Asia) Corporation Limited. Similar names do not mean the securities represent the same company.
- Check the security type and ticker. The parent’s documented Hong Kong H-share ticker is 939; its Shanghai A-share ticker is 601939. SUHJY is the ADR symbol disclosed for the Asia company.
- Confirm trading terms with your broker. Market access, trading currency, fees, settlement and availability depend on the broker and the specific security. The cited issuer materials do not establish those terms for your account.
The reviewed sources also do not establish an ADR ratio or depositary-bank arrangement for China Construction Bank Corporation. Do not infer either from the Asia company’s ADR listing.
