Is Camtasia really 33% off?
Not on the basis of the available current pricing. In 2021, TechSpot Store listed Camtasia 2021 with one year of maintenance for $199 instead of $299.99, a stated discount of 33%. That was a specific, dated offer—not proof of a current discount on TechSmith’s plans.
TechSmith’s official store page, reviewed on September 30, 2026, showed annual plans but not the 33% promotion. Since prices and offers can vary by country and plan, treat any live discount claim as unconfirmed until the checkout page shows the product, term, and final price.

Camtasia is TechSmith’s software for recording a screen and turning recordings into edited videos. Its feature set includes screen and camera capture, multitrack editing, cursor effects, animations, transitions, captions, and audio tools. The key distinction is whether you need the full editor and advanced editing features, or want the additional text-based and AI tools in Create. Starter includes a watermarked editor, so it is not equivalent to an unwatermarked full editing plan.

TechSmith says the Camtasia Editor trial has no time limit, but exports carry a watermark until you purchase a paid plan. The watermark is therefore not removed simply by continuing to use the trial; choose a paid plan if you need clean exported videos.
Other trial periods listed by TechSmith are separate: Audiate has a seven-day trial, Snagit has a 15-day trial, and Screencast provides 12 months for inactive content or accounts, with a 25-video limit. Those terms do not change the Camtasia Editor trial conditions.
