Apple TV is not permanently free. It is a subscription streaming service, but eligible customers may get a temporary free trial or promotional access. The Apple TV app itself is free to open on supported devices; it also contains subscriptions, rentals, and purchases that are billed separately. Check the offer and renewal price shown for your country before signing up.
Can you get an Apple TV subscription for free?
Apple’s service page asks, “Can I get an Apple TV subscription for free?” The practical answer is: temporarily, if you qualify for an offer. Apple describes a seven-day free trial, but a trial is not an ongoing free tier. Eligibility and availability can depend on the offer and your account, so confirm the terms during signup. Apple’s service page
Apple Support describes Apple TV as a subscription streaming service. An Apple Account holder can sign in to start a free trial when one is available. Apple Support: Subscribe to Apple TV or an Apple TV channel in the Apple TV app

What is free in the Apple TV app—and what is not?
The Apple TV app is a viewing hub and storefront, not proof that every title shown is included in the Apple TV subscription. It can surface Apple TV subscription shows, third-party channels, and movies or shows available to rent or buy. Apple states that the subscription “does not include third-party branded subscription services or content available for rental or purchase in the Apple TV app.” Apple Support

New-device offer
In a July 15, 2026 announcement, Apple described a limited-time offer of three months of Apple TV with the purchase and activation of an eligible new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV 4K, or Mac. The offer is conditional and time-limited; buying hardware solely to obtain temporary streaming access is not a reliable way to save money. Check the offer terms for eligible devices, activation deadlines, and redemption requirements. Apple Newsroom, July 15, 2026
Student access
Apple says Apple TV access may be included for a limited time with the Apple Music Student Plan. This is a student benefit attached to a separate plan, not a general free subscription. Confirm that you qualify and review the current terms on Apple’s service page. Apple TV service page

Apple TV can also be available through Apple One, which bundles Apple services into a paid plan. That may be useful if you already want the other included services, but it is not free standalone access. Check Apple’s current plan details for your region. Apple TV service page
How much does Apple TV cost after a trial?
Apple’s retrieved pages show conflicting U.S. monthly prices. Its Apple TV app page currently displays US$14.99 per month, while a July 15, 2026 Newsroom announcement says US$12.99 per month with a seven-day trial for new subscribers. The figures are tied to those specific Apple pages and dates, and neither should be assumed to be the price available to every customer. Apple TV app page · Apple Newsroom, July 15, 2026

Quick Recap
How to decide whether an offer is worth using
- Identify the access type. Is it a free trial, a student benefit, an Apple One bundle, or a device promotion? Each has different eligibility and duration.
- Check the title. Confirm it is Apple TV subscription content, not a separately billed channel, rental, or purchase.
- Read the renewal terms. Note when the offer ends and the recurring price displayed at signup.
- Confirm regional coverage. Content, sports rights, and offers can vary by country or region.
- Decide based on what you would otherwise pay for. A hardware purchase just to claim a limited streaming offer may cost more than the access is worth.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
