Maybe—but a below-MSRP deal is not verified from the information available here. The U.S. launch MSRP for the RX 9060 XT 8GB was $299, but whether a particular overclocked model is a good buy depends on its live price, seller, and the price gap to the 16GB version. An overclock can improve performance in some games; it cannot add memory. The 8GB card makes the most sense as a lower-cost 1080p option if your games and settings fit its limits.

Is the RX 9060 XT 8GB actually selling below MSRP?

That depends on the exact listing and country. The cited offer does not identify a retailer, SKU, region, or current price, so it is not possible to confirm that a specific card is presently below MSRP. Compare the price on the product page with the relevant local launch price and with competing listings, including the 16GB model.

In the U.S., the RX 9060 XT 8GB launched at $299 and the 16GB version at $349, according to TechSpot’s June 6, 2025 review. These are launch MSRPs, not promises about current street prices.

A separate Tom’s Hardware U.S. price snapshot from 2026 lists the 8GB card at a $359 best price, a $259 lowest observed price, and a $299 launch MSRP. Those figures describe that publisher’s snapshot and historical low; they are not a live quote for a particular store. Likewise, The FPS Review’s coverage says the XFX Swift RX 9060 XT OC Gaming Edition 8GB sold below MSRP for a period in 2025. That past sale does not establish today’s price.

What does “OC” mean—and does it fix the 8GB limit?

“OC” identifies an overclocked board-partner model; it does not mean the card has more memory or that the price is discounted enough to be worthwhile. Overclocking raises GPU operating performance within limits, but gains vary by game, card, cooling, and settings. It does not increase the card’s 8GB of VRAM.

For a specific example, PC Gamer’s 2026 test compared an Asus Prime 8GB sample with 16GB versions. In Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p with RT Ultra, the tested 8GB card produced 26 average FPS and 17 FPS 1% lows at stock; after the tested overclock it produced 26 average FPS and 19 FPS 1% lows. The stock 16GB card recorded 30 average FPS and 24 FPS 1% lows. This is one test, not a prediction for every game or OC model, but it shows why average frame rate alone may not tell the whole story.

RX 9060 XT 8GB vs. 16GB: when does the extra memory matter?

The 16GB card is not automatically twice as fast, and the value of its extra capacity depends on the game and settings. But memory limits can matter in demanding cases: TechSpot’s 2025 testing found the 16GB model substantially faster in a demanding Indiana Jones and the Great Circle test, and reported that the 8GB model could not expose that game’s path-tracing option. Those are title-specific findings, not universal performance ratios.

ASUS Dual Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB GDDR6 Gaming Graphics Card
  • Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
  • 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
  • 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
  • Dual BIOS switch lets you toggle between Quiet and Performance BIOS profiles
  • Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs
  • Your games and settings: Check performance and available options for the specific games you play, especially at higher resolutions or with demanding ray tracing, path tracing, or texture settings.
  • Frame-rate consistency: Look at 1% lows as well as average FPS; the lows can reveal uneven play that an average hides.
  • Local price gap: Compare actual prices for the 8GB and 16GB cards from your retailer and region. The launch MSRP difference in the U.S. was $50, but current listings may differ.
  • Exact board model: Check the product’s dimensions, power requirements, cooling, and warranty. Board-partner specifications can differ from the reference figures.

Tom’s Hardware’s 2025 launch coverage gives reference total board power as 150W for the 8GB card and 160W for the 16GB card; use the exact model’s listing to confirm its requirements and fit. See Tom’s Hardware’s RX 9060 XT launch coverage.

Who should buy the overclocked 8GB model?

It may suit you if

  • You want a lower-cost card primarily for 1080p gaming.
  • The exact games and settings you care about perform acceptably on 8GB.
  • The listing is from a seller you trust, and its real price is compelling against both the 16GB model and other local options.
  • Your case, power supply, and warranty needs match the specific board-partner card.

Consider the 16GB version instead if

  • You play demanding games where higher memory capacity affects performance or access to graphics options.
  • You want more headroom for high-resolution textures or intensive ray-tracing settings.
  • The local price premium is small enough that the added capacity is worth it for your games and expected ownership period.

Steven Walton, a TechSpot reviewer, argued that 8GB is increasingly out of step with modern and future game needs. That is the reviewer’s assessment, not a formal standard or a guarantee that every game will exceed 8GB.

What to verify before you buy

  1. Open the exact product listing. Confirm country, retailer, seller, full model name or SKU, and current price. Do not rely on an “OC” label or an old sale report as proof of a live discount.
  2. Compare like with like. Check the listing against the U.S. $299 launch MSRP only if that region is relevant, then compare the 8GB card with the actual local price of the 16GB model.
  3. Check game-specific evidence. Look for benchmarks at your target resolution and settings, including 1% lows, rather than assuming the overclock or memory capacity produces the same result in every title.
  4. Confirm the physical and electrical fit. Use the manufacturer’s specifications for the exact SKU to check dimensions, power requirements, cooling, and warranty before ordering.
