There is no blanket safety verdict for fan-made P.T. ports. It depends on the exact release, where you got it, and what the files do. No specific P.T. port is verified here, so treat any download as untrusted until you can confirm its source and check the exact file. A project page, signature, hash, SmartScreen result, or antivirus scan can each help—but none alone proves a file is safe.
What is known about fan-made P.T. ports?
A Reddit community post titled “P.T. PC Port 1.0.0” reports a claimed native PC port, but that post alone does not establish who made it, whether its download is official, or whether the files are safe. It is not enough to endorse that release or any other port. You can read the post at Reddit.
For a specific-file verdict, you would need the exact project and release page, plus the file itself or its cryptographic hash and current analysis. Without those, the useful question is not whether fan-made ports are safe in general, but whether this particular download has enough trustworthy evidence to run.

Check the source and release before downloading
Start by finding the project’s established page or account independently, then follow its own release link. Microsoft advises: “Download apps only from trusted sources, such as Microsoft Store, and be thoughtful about which apps you install.” See Microsoft Support’s guidance on unwanted software.

- Confirm that the project page identifies the creator and the release version you intend to download.
- Check that the file types and names match what the project says to expect.
- Be more cautious with unfamiliar mirrors, repacks, password-protected archives, and unexpected installers.
- Stop if the download asks you to install unrelated software or grant permissions that do not make sense for the game.
No authoritative distribution page for a particular P.T. port is established here. Do not treat a forum post or a link shared in a community as proof that a file is official.
Inspect the exact file you downloaded
Before opening an archive or running an installer, compare the downloaded artifact with the release information. Check its file name, size, and version. If a publisher signature is present, inspect who signed it; an unexpected publisher is a reason to pause, not a detail to ignore.

Use a published hash as a byte-for-byte check
If the project publishes a SHA-256 hash, calculate the hash for your downloaded file and compare the values exactly. A match shows that the bytes you have match the published value; it does not prove the publisher’s file is harmless. The comparison is useful only if you obtained the reference hash through a trustworthy, independent project channel. No hash for a specific P.T. port is established here.

Understand what a signature can and cannot tell you
A valid signature can help identify the publisher and indicate whether the signed file has changed since it was signed. It is not a safety certification. If a file is unsigned, that does not by itself prove it is malicious, but it leaves you with less information about who published it.

Interpret SmartScreen and antivirus results carefully
SmartScreen warnings are a reason to pause
Microsoft says of its App Reputation warning: “No – the App Reputation warning is not an indication that the download is malicious.” SmartScreen considers signals such as URL and file reputation, download history or volume, and antivirus information. A new or rarely downloaded file may not have established reputation, but Microsoft still advises caution, especially with unsigned downloads. Read Microsoft’s SmartScreen FAQ.
Do not make “Run anyway” the default response. If Windows warns about a file, go back to the project and artifact checks first. A warning does not prove malware, but dismissing it without resolving uncertainty removes a useful protection.

Scan the file, but do not treat a clean result as a guarantee
Keep Windows, your browser, and antivirus protection current. Scan the downloaded installer or executable; where practical, scan executable files again after extracting an archive. Microsoft’s unwanted-software guidance recommends up-to-date protection and scanning when unwanted software is suspected.
A scan is a signal about that file at that time, not a guarantee of safety. If you use VirusTotal, match the report to the exact file and check the most recent analysis date. A report for another build—or an old report—does not tell you whether the file in your hands is safe. VirusTotal explains its file records and analysis dates in its file object documentation.

Do not assume that zero detections means safe. If one or more scanners flag the file, pause and investigate instead of whitelisting it or disabling protection based only on a forum comment. A detection may need context, but there is no established false-positive finding for a particular P.T. file here.

Looking up a report by a file’s hash, when a matching record exists, can avoid submitting the file itself.
Decide whether to proceed
Proceed only if the source and exact release make sense and your checks leave no unresolved reason to stop. These checks are complementary trust signals, not a scoring system: a credible source does not cancel out an unexpected publisher, and a clean scan does not make an unclear download trustworthy.
