The Roomba Max 775 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock is iRobot’s robot vacuum-and-mop bundled with a large self-servicing dock. On paper, it targets people who want a machine that vacuums and mops hard floors and handles its own debris emptying and mop washing. The advertised features are substantial, but as of October 2026 no independent hands-on test results for this model were available. Everything below separates what iRobot claims from what you should verify in your own home.
What the Max 775 is
The exact product is the Roomba Max 775 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock, listed by iRobot as item X285020 on its US product page. Confirm that item number and the regional SKU before you buy, because listings for the same model can differ by market and bundle.
It is a two-part system: a robot that vacuums and mops, and a floor-standing AutoWash dock that handles the robot’s maintenance. Most of the product’s value proposition rests on the dock, so the dock is covered in its own section below.

Mopping with a roller mop and heated spot mopping
The robot uses a PowerSpin roller mop and also has dual rubber brushes for vacuuming. iRobot advertises heated spot mopping, which is intended for targeted cleaning of sticky or stubborn spots rather than the whole floor.
Mapping and navigation
- ClearView Pro LiDAR mapping builds the floor plan the robot uses to move through the home.
- Up to five maps can be stored, according to iRobot, which is useful for multi-floor homes or a second home.
- Room naming in the app lets you label rooms so you can direct cleaning by room.
Obstacle recognition
iRobot’s PrecisionVision AI obstacle recognition is advertised to identify objects such as cords, shoes and pet waste. Treat that as a stated capability, not a guarantee. Floors with many loose cables, socks, or small items still call for a quick tidy before each run, and no independent measurement of how reliably this avoidance works is available for this model.
The AutoWash dock
The dock is the main reason to consider this model over a vacuum-and-mop without a base. iRobot says it:
- automatically empties debris from the robot into a bag,
- heat-washes and heat-dries the roller mop,
- dispenses mopping solution,
- runs a self-cleaning cycle after washing the roller.
The product page’s setup advice is to place the dock on a hard-surface floor and leave enough clear space for the robot to drive in and out.

The dock is the constraint that matters most. At roughly 17 inches tall and nearly 17 inches wide, it needs a dedicated spot against a wall or in a corner with open floor in front of it, and it is heavy enough that you should expect to lift it once during setup.
The box contents listed by iRobot are:
- one Max 775 robot,
- one 775 AutoWash dock,
- a line cord,
- one extra active-carbon AutoEmpty bag,
- one extra filter,
- two extra side brushes,
- a 30 ml sample of StayClean.
Carpets: a design claim, not a proven result
iRobot states that the roller mop cover lifts and shields the mop to keep carpets dry. That describes the intended design. Whether the mop stays dry enough on your carpet depends on the carpet’s pile, the mop’s moisture level, and how the robot transitions between surfaces, and none of those outcomes have been independently measured for this model.

If carpet is a large share of your floor area, plan to check this yourself. Run the robot on a representative carpeted area first, then inspect the edge where carpet meets hard floor and the carpet pile after the run. If you have rugs with thick pile or fringe, keep them out of the mopping zone instead of relying on the shield.
Ongoing maintenance and supplies
iRobot advertises up to three months of hands-free operation between dock-related attention. Treat that as the manufacturer’s estimate, not a guaranteed service interval. How often the bag, filter, brushes and solution need replacing depends on how much you run the robot, how many pets you have, how much hair and grit your floors collect, and how often you mop.

Before you buy any replacement, confirm it is listed for the Max 775 or its SKU. Several of these categories appear in the box and the dock description, but fit for every third-party replacement listing is not established, and a bag or filter that does not match the dock can cause problems.

Prices for this model are volatile. Two US product-page variants were visible on October 7, 2026:

iRobot’s press-release listing includes an announcement dated September 2, 2026 for the Roomba Max 875 Combo. That makes the 775 a model you can compare against a newer iRobot release. The sources gathered for this review do not include a performance comparison between the two, so this article does not rank them. Compare the specifications, bundled accessories and price of each listing directly.
Support and warranty
In a company update, iRobot says Roomba robots are still being built, sold and supported, both in the app and through dedicated support teams. It also says the company plans to continue customer service, software updates where applicable, and warranty coverage. That is a statement about direction, not a warranty document. The warranty length, coverage and claim process for this model depend on your region, so read the warranty terms that come with your purchase before relying on them.

Who this model suits, and what to verify first
The Max 775 is worth a close look if you have mostly hard floors, want mopping handled without emptying a tank by hand, and are willing to commit floor space to a large dock. It makes less sense if carpet dominates your home, if you want a vacuum-only robot, or if you need a documented cleaning or durability record, because that evidence is not yet available for this model.
Before you buy, check the following:
- the item number and regional SKU match the Max 775 Combo with AutoWash dock,
- the dock fits in its intended spot with room for the robot to enter and leave,
- the current price and stock on the retailer you will buy from,
- the warranty terms for your country,
- replacement bags, filters, brushes and roller mops are listed as compatible with this model.
If those checks pass and your floors are mainly hard surfaces, the Max 775 is a reasonable choice based on its features. If carpet and obstacle handling are your main concerns, wait for independent testing or compare it directly with models you can test in person.
Keep your expectations realistic: the advertised features are a useful starting point, not a substitute for a trial in your own home.
