The India-market iQOO Z9x is a strong fit if your priorities are long battery life, dependable everyday speed, casual gaming, and a large 120 Hz screen. Its Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and 6,000 mAh battery make a persuasive budget-phone combination, but the LCD lacks AMOLED contrast and the cameras are less consistent, particularly in low light. Whether it is a good buy depends on the current price of the exact RAM variant; the review-era prices are not reliable current quotes.

Specifications are from iQOO India’s product overview and technical specifications. iQOO says charging power varies with conditions. Its overview also says 4K video recording is available only on the 8 GB RAM version; other variants record at up to 1080p/30 fps, according to Gadgets 360.
What the iQOO Z9x does well
Battery life is its clearest strength
The 6,000 mAh typical battery is backed by strong results in two separate 2024 reviews, although their tests are not directly comparable. 91mobiles recorded 20 hours 19 minutes in its PCMark battery test and reported that the phone lasted through a power user’s day. Gadgets 360 measured 22 hours 35 minutes in its battery loop with the screen set to 120 Hz and High. These are publication-specific test results, not promises of everyday runtime.

Charging also varies with the test and conditions. 91mobiles reported about 61 minutes to charge from 20% to 100%; Gadgets 360 reported one hour 39 minutes for a full charge. iQOO advertises support for up to 44 W and notes that actual charging power can vary. Its product page says a lab simulation retained at least 80% battery capacity after 1,600 complete charge cycles; real-world results can vary.

Everyday performance and casual gaming are capable
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is well suited to routine tasks, and the two reviewers found the phone responsive in everyday use. 91mobiles reported casual gaming with BGMI at High and Call of Duty: Mobile at HD. Gadgets 360 found that Call of Duty: Mobile at Medium graphics and High frame rate had a few dropped frames, while Asphalt 9 ran at 60 fps on high-quality settings. These experiences support casual play, not a claim of flagship gaming performance.
The 120 Hz display does not mean games will run at 120 fps. Gadgets 360 notes that the hardware limits many games from reaching that frame rate; it also observed that Auto refresh rate could remain at 90 Hz during gaming. Game support, settings, and performance affect what you actually see.

The screen is large, sharp, and smooth
The 6.72-inch FHD+ LCD provides ample room for video, browsing, and games, with refresh rates up to 120 Hz. It is not an AMOLED panel, so it cannot offer the same kind of deep blacks and contrast. Reviewers differed somewhat in their assessment: 91mobiles found the screen sufficiently bright, while Gadgets 360 considered it sharp enough for casual use but not among the brightest in its segment. Gadgets 360 also noted a yellow tint near the bottom of its review unit; that is a unit-specific observation, not proof that every Z9x has the same issue.

Useful extras are uncommon at this price tier
iQOO lists a 3.5 mm headphone jack, stereo speakers, expandable memory up to 1 TB, and IP64 dust and splash protection. Gadgets 360 found the speakers loud but tinny, so wired headphones may be preferable if sound quality matters. The hybrid second SIM slot means you may need to choose between a second SIM and a memory card.

IP64 is not waterproofing. iQOO cautions that resistance can diminish with everyday use and that liquid-ingress damage is not covered by warranty. Treat the rating as protection against dust and splashes, not permission to submerge the phone.
Where the iQOO Z9x falls short
Camera consistency is the main compromise
The rear camera setup pairs a 50 MP main camera with a 2 MP bokeh camera, and the front camera is 8 MP. The headline megapixel counts do not guarantee image quality. 91mobiles found daylight detail and appealing color, while warning that HDR could overexpose scenes and that low-light expectations should remain modest. Gadgets 360 reported soft images, slow focus, inconsistent white balance, and weak low-light results in its samples.

That makes the Z9x more suitable for casual daylight photos than for reliably capturing challenging scenes. If dependable night photography, fast focusing, or consistent color is important to you, camera performance is a reason to compare alternatives before buying. For video, 4K/30 fps is restricted to the 8 GB RAM variant; the other configurations top out at 1080p/30 fps.

Choose the Z9x for a large, high-refresh LCD rather than AMOLED contrast. Funtouch OS 14 was listed with Android 14 on iQOO’s specification page. 91mobiles described preinstalled apps and a Hot Apps section, which it said could be removed, as software drawbacks. That review also reported a launch-era commitment of two major Android OS updates and three years of security updates; it is not a confirmation of the phone’s current update status.

Price and availability are time-sensitive. 91mobiles listed review-era starting prices of ₹12,999 for 4 GB/128 GB, ₹14,499 for 6 GB/128 GB, and ₹15,999 for 8 GB/128 GB. Those are historical figures, not current offers. iQOO’s shop listing showed ₹18,999 for one 6 GB/128 GB SKU and ₹19,999 for an 8 GB SKU, with the selected item unavailable in the listing; that does not establish a dependable current street price or stock status. Check current listings for the exact RAM variant, seller, and return terms before deciding.
When comparing, use the price you can actually pay for each phone and weigh these factors:
- Battery: compare capacity and independently tested endurance, noting that test methods differ.
- Performance: consider the chipset and sustained gaming behavior rather than assuming every title will use a 120 Hz display fully.
- Screen: decide whether high refresh and a large LCD matter more than AMOLED contrast.
- Cameras: look for evidence about focus, color consistency, and low-light results—not megapixels alone.
- Software: check the interface, preinstalled apps, and current, verifiable update commitments.
- Configuration: compare RAM, storage, expandable-memory arrangements, and video-recording limits alongside the actual offer.
91mobiles names the Moto G64, POCO X6 Neo, and realme P1 5G as rivals in its review. It describes the Moto G64 as having a similar 6,000 mAh battery and a stock-Android-like interface, and the POCO X6 Neo and realme P1 as AMOLED alternatives; it also says the realme P1 has better performance output. These are that review’s comparison claims, not a current ranking of phones or prices.
Verdict: should you buy the iQOO Z9x?
Consider the iQOO Z9x if you want strong battery capacity, capable daily performance, casual gaming, and a spacious high-refresh display, and you value the headphone jack, stereo speakers, or expandable storage. Its strongest evidence is the battery performance recorded in two different reviews.
Look elsewhere if camera consistency—especially in low light—AMOLED contrast, or a cleaner software experience is more important than those strengths. Because current pricing and availability are not established by the cited listings, the sensible verdict is conditional: compare the live price of the exact variant with similarly priced alternatives before buying.
