According to a 91mobiles report published October 9, 2026, iQOO has confirmed an India launch for the iQOO 16 at the Indian Mobile Congress 2026 Snapdragon event, and the phone is described as one of the first in India to use a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 platform. The exact India launch date, the India price and the India processor variant are not yet confirmed. The processor question is the one to watch most closely, because Qualcomm now has two separate Gen 6 chips and the reporting does not consistently say which one the iQOO 16 uses.
What is confirmed and what is only reported
The launch news comes from one secondary source, so it helps to separate the layers of evidence:
- Confirmed by Qualcomm: In its September 22, 2026 announcement, Qualcomm introduced two platforms, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, and named iQOO among the brands adopting them. The announcement does not name an iQOO model.
- Reported by 91mobiles (October 9, 2026): iQOO confirmed an India launch for the iQOO 16 at the Indian Mobile Congress 2026 Snapdragon event, and CEO Nipun Marya showcased the handset there.
- Not yet established: an India launch date, an India price, the India specification sheet, and which Gen 6 platform the India model uses.
Two Gen 6 chips, and a reporting inconsistency
Qualcomm’s two platforms have similar names but are not interchangeable labels. Treat them as separate products until iQOO publishes its own specification list.

| iQOO community post | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 | User post, not official confirmation |
Because the same article uses both names, the exact processor for the India model should be considered unsettled. When iQOO India publishes its specifications, look for the chip name in the official specification table rather than in headlines or summaries.

China-market specifications: a baseline, not an India spec sheet
91mobiles also reports specifications for the China-market iQOO 16. These figures show what the phone is reported to offer in its home market. They are not confirmed for India, and battery capacity, cameras and software can differ between regional models.
| Area | Reported China-market value | India status |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 2K resolution, 165 Hz AMOLED | Not stated for India |
| Battery | 8,400 mAh | Not stated for India |
| Rear cameras | Three 50 MP cameras | Not stated for India |
| Software | OriginOS 7 on Android 17 | Not stated for India |
Price and launch date: what is not known
As of the October 9, 2026 report, iQOO had not revealed an exact India launch date. The figure of roughly ₹85,000 that appears in coverage is a currency conversion of the China starting price. It is not an announced India price, and it should not be used as one when comparing models.
How to check the India details when they are published
- Find the official announcement: Start with iQOO India’s own launch announcement, not with secondary coverage. Confirm the launch date, the sale date and the price there.
- Read the chip name in the specification table: Check whether the India model is listed as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 or Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. A chip name in a headline is not enough.
- Confirm the India configuration: Check RAM, storage, display, battery capacity, charging speed, camera hardware and the Android and OriginOS versions. Do not assume these match the China model.
- Check regional support: Confirm the warranty terms, the official sales channel and the software update commitment for India before buying.
- Compare with the right rivals: The 91mobiles report names the Motorola Signature 27 and the Xiaomi 18 Pro as expected India competitors. Their relative value cannot be judged until India prices and configurations are published.
How much weight each source deserves
- Qualcomm is the primary source for the existence and official naming of both Gen 6 platforms and their general capabilities. A platform capability does not prove that every phone implements each feature.
- 91mobiles is the timely secondary source for the India launch report, the event context and the China-market specifications. Its chip naming is inconsistent, and it does not give an India date.
- The iQOO community post repeats the Gen 6 claim, but it is a user post and not an official statement.
- No direct quotation from iQOO or Qualcomm about the India launch was verified, and no independent market statistic about the India launch was found. The launch and chip statements in this article are paraphrases of the sources above.
Until iQOO India publishes its official India announcement, treat the launch as confirmed by iQOO’s event appearance but the price, date and exact processor as open questions.
