How much do the iPhone 17 and Galaxy S26+ cost?
Apple announced a U.S. starting price of $799 for iPhone 17 in September 2025. Samsung’s U.S. purchase page showed the unlocked 256GB Galaxy S26+ at $1,049.99, reduced from a listed $1,199.99 by an instant $150 saving; that listing was observed on October 7, 2026.
The two displayed figures differ by $250.99, but this is not a permanent MSRP gap: one is Apple’s launch starting price and the other is a time-sensitive offer for a specific Samsung capacity and unlocked configuration. Check both sellers’ current prices for the same storage, unlocked or carrier status, and trade-in conditions before deciding. Which phone is larger and lighter?
The Galaxy S26+ has the larger display and weighs 190g according to Samsung Canada’s cited specifications. Apple lists the iPhone 17 at 177g. Those figures make the iPhone 17 13g lighter on the cited manufacturer specifications; the comparison does not account for cases or other accessories.

The playback figures are manufacturer claims from Apple’s current specification page and Samsung Canada’s business specification page, respectively. They come from different market and test contexts, so the one-hour difference is not a controlled head-to-head battery result and does not predict every person’s runtime.

Samsung says the Galaxy S26+ package does not include a charger. Apple says the adapter and MagSafe charger for its specified fast-charging setups are available separately. That may affect the total cost if you need equipment, but it does not mean every buyer must purchase a new charger: check what is included with the exact offer and whether you already have compatible charging equipment.

Which one should you choose?
- Consider iPhone 17 if you want the smaller, lighter device or prefer Apple’s ecosystem. The cited U.S. launch price was lower, but compare today’s price and matching storage before treating that as a current saving.
