Yes. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max have 12GB of memory. Reports put Samsung’s share of the iPhone 17 Pro supply-chain DRAM orders at about 70%, but Apple has not publicly confirmed that allocation. The supplier figure is a report, not an official Apple disclosure.
How much RAM does the iPhone 17 Pro have?
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max use 12GB of LPDDR5X memory. That specification first appeared in supply-chain reporting before launch and was later reported as an existing configuration after the phones were released.

Counterpoint Research later put the change in a broader context: Apple’s average smartphone DRAM reached almost 10GB in December 2025, a year-over-year increase of 2.2GB that the firm attributed to the iPhone 17 Pro series moving to 12GB. This is an average across Apple smartphones, not the RAM capacity of every iPhone.

TrendForce’s May 2025 report said Samsung was rumored to receive approximately 70% of the DRAM demand for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max supply chain. The percentage describes a reported share of orders or demand; it does not mean that 70% of finished phones contain Samsung-branded memory. Apple has not published a contract or confirmed an independently audited allocation.

Later MacRumors reporting, citing Korean industry coverage, described Samsung’s share of low-power DRAM for the iPhone 17 line as roughly 60%–70%. SK hynix and Micron were also reported as suppliers. The differing ranges and descriptions are reasons to treat the figure as an estimate, not a precise, Apple-confirmed breakdown.
Why increase memory, and what might it change?
More room for on-device workloads
The 2025 reports connected the memory increase to heavier on-device AI workloads and the need for more working memory. More RAM can give a device additional room to keep active tasks and data available, but capacity alone does not establish how much faster an app will run or how many tasks the phone can sustain. The cited reporting does not provide independent performance tests that isolate the effect of the extra memory.

Supplier capacity in a tight market
Later coverage also described a constrained mobile-LPDDR market, with memory suppliers prioritizing high-bandwidth memory for AI servers. In that context, dependable Samsung capacity may have been valuable to Apple. That is a supply-chain explanation reported by industry sources, not a public statement from Apple about why it assigned orders as it did.

What to take from the reports
- The Pro models’ 12GB LPDDR5X configuration was reported before launch and subsequently described as the released specification.
- Samsung’s approximately 70% share is a reported estimate of supply-chain DRAM orders or demand, with other suppliers also involved.
- The additional memory is consistent with more demanding on-device workloads, but the available reporting does not quantify a resulting performance gain.
